Ten Network - Programs and Schedules

It’s 10, everything is cyclical.

Where is The Comedy Company or something similar

That is some good news, with the Late News being at around 10pm each night. Having I’m A Celeb airing for 90 minutes a night helps. Will be interesting how it goes, when most of 10’s other reality shows has various running times and a lot of overruns.

Ten might look at making them fit to either be either a 60 minute show (give or take 5 minutes and screen the 8:30pm show for 2 hours or specials like Just For Laughs in the 9:30pm ish slot with News to follow OR stretch out the drama to be ensure it ends at 9pm - could even potentially have The Project run until 7:35pm or 7:40pm each night BUT whether they would risk it, who knows.

Also an interesting strategy that 10 don’t like pairing their US franchises together.

Soon Matlock will be paired with FBI, NCIS with FBI: Most Wanted, Elsbeth with NCIS: Hawaii.

I would have liked to see FBI: FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International on Sundays, Matlock on Monday which would eventually air after HYBPA. Then Elsbeth on Tuesdays that would eventually follow The Cheap Seats and NCIS and NCIS: Origins on Wednesdays. They could use SVU on Thursdays after Graham.

Agreed. It would make so much more sense to air them together. Like how the origin broadcaster in Ameria do…

instead of pushing these shows back later and later (re the Late News screening at 10pm, perhaps Ten could try first run on Friday and Saturdays and encore these in those later slots

10 have tried those type of proceduals in almost every timeslot, including a crime time block of programming on Saturday nights a few years ago and rated horribly for the time.

Seem to recall it featured Scorpion, MacGyver and maybe Blue Bloods?

The only one of those that I would have personally considered watching was Scorpion, even that was a stretch - mind you it did have Finch out of the American Pie movies which made it watchable. The right programs on those nights and encores during the week (or vice versa) could work. Also consider that Seven has less Saturday night AFL matches this year which may help get traction in the Saturday night slot

Could work, but it hasn’t before. It would require investment with the right type of programs and time to find an audience, two things 10 won’t do.

Viewers have consistently shown they don’t watch these procedural type shows in large numbers, they’re better off on the back of bloated reality in later slots to fill them - streaming first.

Lifestyle content on Fridays, movies on Saturdays. It’s not hard

If Ten can secure decent movies, it would work. But thats Tens problem, they havent been investing to get the content they need. Ten should have made a play for Australias tour of Sri Lanka - 10Bold would have been back up channel for the cricket, but they didnt even try

10 are airing movies on Nickelodeon on weeknights, arguably some decent titles, some average ones, some even premieres - so it’s possible. They just seem intent on umpteenth repeats of Dog House / Ambulance etc.

I really don’t get this thinking, same in the ratings thread the other day.

The network would have zero interest picking up the rights for a sport they have no skin in anymore, for a measly few days worth of content. There’s no long term benefit for them, unless they were going to make a play for more cricket.

10 isn’t known for cricket anymore, they wouldn’t be able to leverage it as well as say Seven could (especially at short notice), they have no cricket experts or commentators on their payroll and it just doesn’t make sense.

Also, we don’t know 10 didn’t bid? You’re assuming they didn’t.

It’s a moot point anyway, 7 strategically acquired then at Foxtel’s loss and that’s that. I don’t see anyone suggesting Nine should’ve picked them up when they still have some cricket rights.

Someone suggested 10Bold (previously known as One) should become a sports channel again. This is my thinking that 10Bold could become a sports channel again. Network 10 owners need to spend money to make money and its something 10 sadly are unwilling to do.

10 could have been looking at sports from abroad such as New Zealand (Domestic NZ internationals involving NZ) or United States (baseball) or United Kingdom (rugby union and soccer)

What part of One not being a viable venture 10+ years ago makes you think that’s a better idea now?

Sorry, but spending money like that would absolutely categorically not make money - it would lose millions and millions of dollars and be nothing but another failed disaster.

It’s a nice thought, but will never happen.

I agree that a full sports channel wouldnt be economically viable (unless you could secure horse racing and greyhound racing at a good price - however, Seven has that locked in one in on racing channel).

I think that 10 needs to have more content that would attract the sports enthusiasts on Saturday and Sunday afternoon to at least offer some competition to Seven and Nine.

I think the secondary channels are ALL over the place scheduling wise despite having the Comedy and Drama labels attached to their names - a lot like hyphenated names - these names give the impression they are supposed to define the content BUT it doesnt

Friday night movies have now been pushed back to 8.30pm, with a TBA at 7.30pm. Friday night lifestyle programs returning?

Apparently the new Friday lineup as mentioned in the ratings thread yesterday is:

7:30 Bondi Rescue (repeat)
8:00 Bondi Rescue (repeat)
8:30 The Graham Norton Show (repeat)
9:30 The Graham Norton Show (repeat)

Not sure what that means for the schedule movie. A 9:30pm start?

I would say it’s now out of the line up.

That is the following week.
