Ten Network - Programs and Schedules (2015-Apr 2025)

The on-air talent doesn’t have any rights over what the network does with a program let alone a family. The right to and when to broadcast is owned by the network. Besides, I can’t see that the family would have an objection to the show airing anyway, in fact quite the opposite. I can’t see any scenario where the show won’t make it to air albeit with some careful editing.

I was thinking of both those Australian actors when I wrote my post. You’re right about Mark Priestley. There were about 3 months of unscreened episodes in that case too.

There are lots of variables at play here.

Commercially, Ten will obviously want to air the season in due course. But what if there’s a significant decline in viewership because fans are too upset to watch knowing what’s happened? Or a backlash from the public who say it’s disrespectful?

There are only so many weeks in a year. Ten have other shows to air and the longer MasterChef is kept off the air, could result in editing to shorten the season so it finishes on time.

If there was any editing required, I’d say it would be minor to remove anything that might have been said that could be considered insensitive. They’re not about to shorten the whole season just to fit into some sort of timeline. If the show is delayed by a week or two then I’d say it just means they’ll just have two less weeks to fill at the end of the year.

there may be element of both of those but probably not enough to discourage keeping the show going. At the same time there may be fans more determined to tune in to view the show as a tribute.

I’m only telling you what it said. Anyway looks like it will be going ahead but they will go over everything.

I’d say quite the opposite - I think viewers are more likely rather than less likely to tune in. And remember with movies and TV series being repeated all the time or available on streamers people are watching stars who have passed away quite frequently.

I’m sure it’ll go to air either next week or the week after, especially as The Bridge didn’t rate too well. Of course as you say there will be a knock on effect but I think Masterchef will have to run the intended number of weeks as it has a weekly structure and I believe airs 5 nights a week. What they can probably do later in the year is catch up by running shows intended to just air 3 nights a week over 4 nights instead.

There won’t be any need to catch up, there will be weeks around December at the latest that they can come back to normal for Christmas. It is a non-issue as Ten doesn’t program for 52 weeks, regardless of what they say about the tentpoles.

The Bridge bumped to 9:30 and 10:30 tonight.

As I forecast this morning, 10 will show repeats of The Dog House Australia tonight and tomorrow.

Although, why the hurry in showing double episodes of The Bridge?

Probably the fact it was only about 7000 viewers from dropping into 5 figures.

Not surprised with The Bridge being bumped for The Dog House Aus.

Although im not sure if this has been confirmed, but i heard on the radio this morning that various Late Shows in the US have stopped production due to the Writers Strike. Does that include Stephen Colbert’s show? If so, what will be its replacement? Home Shopping?

Yes, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert is also affected by the Writers Strike.

The shows will still continue, but in a reduced capacity. Monologues can be removed but otherwise a lot of the show can still go ahead.

Probably job done as far as they’re concerned then.

Not this time - the Late night shows have stopped production completely. Of the daytime shows only The Talk has stopped production though, which probably says everything you need to know about how scripted some discussion shows can be. Others had already finished filming for the season anyway.
