ABC take note, that’s how you do continuity.
Meanwhile, checking on Tony Tardio since I’m thinking Laundy might offer him a job back at 3AW

Eh, doesn’t look like he’ll be back with his even more unhinged tweets for newsreader standards..
I like the Tapt branding, with the lime background colour and black font, it’s fresh and vibrant, independent.
Agreed. It’s very “youthful” compared to previously.
Seems like there won’t be new logos for the stations?
Did we get any intel on those ?
A lot of their documentation has the old ones on them - would have thought new logos would have been on them, save double handling?
Very much doubt there’ll be changes
Used to be generated at the studios and synced with a GPS Clock
The renaming of 3AW’s Wide World of Sports to Sports Today means the archive of past WWOS shows had disappeared from the station’s website. You can listen to past episodes of WWOS on Apple Podcasts for now.
Christie Cooper fits in very well to 3AW. She has a great personality for radio.
Agreed, according to a Google search, she is a freelancer who does shifts at 3AW from time to time.
Formerly of Seven News Melbourne as well, really composed journalist back in the day
What do 3AW listeners think about the current state of the Drive program?
Jacqui has improved immensely as a host since she started. It doesn’t sound as scripted anymore.
But the content is just so negative. If you want to feel depressed and downbeat, then you just have to tune in for ten minutes. I don’t remember Tom Elliott even being this negative. At least he could talk about a wide variety of topics.
I understand that negative content rates and is popular on social media, but there has to be a fine line. And it doesn’t seem to be translating to the ratings either.
I agree on all of your points.
Jacqui is sounding more polished as a presenter, but the content is endlessly negative and never really scratches below the surface into actual serious analysis of the problems. It is often just a whingefest that ends with her saying “what a joke” or similar. Tom is at least able to get to the substance of the issue.
The ratings clearly reflect that while the program is no longer in decline, it isn’t winning back the audience that it lost previously. It was interesting that the last ratings survey press release from Nine barely mentioned Jacqui’s program - there’s only so many ways you can spin it.
Tom Malone and chief commercial officer Brian Gallagher also appear on Mumbrellacast to discuss the next phase for Tapt Media.
So more booze and betting ads on radio. That’ll go down well…pardon the pun.
The archive has moved to the new Sports Today show page.
Tom Elliott to go under the knife for another new hip
Elise Elliott will be going from TV presenter to nurse in the coming weeks when husband Tom undergoes a second hip replacement.
3AW broadcaster Elliott had a week off air in March when he underwent the first surgery.
“He had one (operation) six weeks ago and he’ll have another one in four to five weeks,’’ Elise said.
Tom was hacked on X while he was on leave but is now back on track.
One person who won’t be filling in for him is Tony Jones, the Channel 9 sport newsreader who marked 40 years at the network this week.
Jones who had a long stint filling in over the summer and survey breaks, says he needs a break from the dual roles.
100% agree with you. Her show has become the Crime Show at 3pm. Whilst I know there is a lot of it happening I think some within the network also have issues with it. Heidi has made some very slight comments in the past on Sunday morning , where content almost comes as all doom and gloom and there are good things happening in the city.
The only light stuff that happens on Jacqui’s show is content that belongs on the Afternoon program or sponsored segments like talking to Luxury Escapes about $40,000 trips overseas, when your audience is struggling to pay for fuel and keep a roof over their head. It’s tone deaf.
My biggest gripe though is saying “Allegedly” in every sentence about 40 times on the one topic. I think once is enough, it’s like she’s worried the law is going to come after her. You don’t hear Tom saying it ?
