Maybe Jeff’s big snafu in the last finale played a part in that decision?
51 had already been filmed when the live finale of 50 aired. Jeff pretty much flew straight from filming 51, to then doing the 50 finale a few days later.
It was a pretty good start to 51 IMO. Great to move away from the cookie cutter new era format. 2 tribes are so much better and what a chaotic Tribal that was.

Yeah it was a great start. Love the 2 tribes. Already have some early favourites and ones I hate 
51 has been an amazing season so far. I have been getting the older school vibes on almost everything from the 2 tribes, people finding Idols (that are just Idols!), challenges seeming more physical, even rewards like bedding/chickens etc we have not seen for a while. Plus it has been such a chaotic cast with chaotic Tribal Councils. The first 3 episodes definitely are a step ahead of any newbie seasons in the new era.
The promo looked like it is potentially moving to 3 tribes next week which is a shame. Still everything about this season so far has been a step in the right direction.
