My plan is to make it through the Reddit top 10 list haha. I will probably watch one or two more and be done for about 6 months.
I watched All Stars about a year back and wasn’t a big fan of it. As much as I loved Rupert in Pearl Islands I found him to be a bit annoying in his 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons.
Is this the top 3 you want? We are all rooting for Sandra to win but she isn’t quite the player we are seeing now. But we have had some questionable winners lately as well.
See I’m on the side of the boat that Sandra never deserved to win Heroes vs Villains (definitely the most debated result of all time amongst fans) so I don’t necessarily want to see her win again (although it would be amazing for the show if she did and I would give her 1000% credit). I don’t think she will win. She will prob make it a bit of the way as I’m not sure if she will be perceived the instant threat - strong alpha males like Ozzy, Malcom and Tony would surely be the ones I would want out first if I was there.
It will be interesting to see if the obvious threats go first or if they take out some easier targets early on. I remember reading a Jeff comment along the lines of in the beginning he compares it to sharks slowly lurking around waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Not sure what that means.
Watching the contestant intros I do think Sarah is one to watch out for. She might be forgotten by most but the reason she went at the merge in her season was because she was playing hard.
Yeah I agree. I don’t think she deserved the win in Heroes v Villains. Although I do not think Russel deserved it either. I think Parvati played a very good game in that series and deserved it. But the jury didn’t like the bullish ways of Russel and thought Parvati was just a goat.
I still would love to see Sandra win just because it would be great to see a three times winner.
MTV has a new Survivor-esque show where 10 millennials are stranded on an island with one million dollars. Those who make it to the end at 40 days get to share the money. They can shoot a flare gun to be evacuated. In the mean time they have the option to spend some of the money on items like tents, pizza etc and it is delivered by drones.
This show looks good. I guess it’s similar concept to Are you the one where prize money is split between a group of people and lots of opportunities to dwindle down that money along the way. It looks like typical MTV young 20 something casting so should be quite a few people there who will struggle.
I’d watch a few episodes to see what it’s like. MTV casting usually delivers major drama in shows like The Real World, and there look to be plenty of similar moments in this. Not sure what the strategy would be in this show, without seeing it but more likely that traits that aren’t rewarded in Survivor might work here such as survivalist skills.
I don’t think it’s really a strategical show apart from the fact that they will have moments of temptation to spend money. Or possibly if someone is not coping and feeling down maybe you would want to try and encourage them to quit more to keep more$$ for yourself. It is an MTV show afterall so the focus would be moreso on drama.
I really hope they air it here. I’m not sure what’s the go with MTV Australia but there are a lot of US shows that we don’t get on it here. We seem to get only a selection of what they air in US and UK. They seem to be missing a lot of shows and instead just air constant repeats of the same things.
I asked on the MTV Australia Facebook page and they said that there are no plans to air this here currently. I never understand why we don’t get so many of these shows.
It’d be really nice to have a local version of the show for MTV Australia & New Zealand. They could co-produce it with MTV in the US and I’m sure that Ten would want to pick it up in a similar arrangement with Foxtel to Gogglebox/Common Sense.
There’s some quality shows on MTV in the States. I only recently watched Catfish for the first time, didn’t realise how entertaining it was. Boy would I love an Aussie version. So too goes for Are You The One?.
I like the concept of Stranded but the lack of age diversity is a huge negative for me. The interaction between the generations on Survivor is always an interesting component of that format. Obviously this is on a youth oriented network so I should expect the cast to be all in their 20s. This group of whiny millennials is somewhat overwhelming to watch. I feel like I’ve just gate crashed one of my teenage nieces “study” sessions. I think I’ll keep watching to see how it all pans out but probably wouldn’t watch a second season. I liked the second episode better than the first so hopefully it gets better as more conflict is introduced.
I wish Survivor had evolved a little more over the years and introduced some of the elements featured in Stranded.
I think it would be more interesting with some different age groups. 10 people don’t seem like a lot either. I could imagine 50% of those going within the first 10 days.
From watching some youtube clips, I think 2 episodes have already aired, it seems really interesting. Money gets given after they complete a challenge every 4 days. They can buy essential items that take money off the prize. Sounds interesting.
Adam Klein (winner of Millenials vs Gen X) is actually in Australia at the moment. He did drinks at Transport Bar in Fed Square last night for Survivor fans to meet and hang out. Unfortunately I only found out about it last minute so couldn’t get along but apparently a few of the Aussie contestants including Brooke and Kylie turned up too. If you keep an eye on his Twitter he is apparently going to a couple other states too and might do similar things.
Also the first 7 minutes of Game Changers has been released. You can watch it here - has got me pretty excited:
