Perth has gone crazy with specialty donuts - another level to KK.

Mop and [the name escapes me but their pop up is in Enex] are all the latest craze. Traditional type donuts with extravagant extras - choc blocks on top, filled with liqueur etc. i havent tried one myself but every time I turn around someone has an order of them. Especially since Uber Eats delivers them.

My local shopping centre The Glen posted a notice today that ticketless parking system would be introduced on October 9. The first three hours will be free, after that you will have to pay a fee. It is similar to the system in place at Eastland and Westfield Doncaster, and soon to come to Westfield Southland. The system will only apply to indoor parking areas at this stage, as the outdoor parking (facing Springvale Road to the east) will be subject to stage 2 of the shopping mallā€™s redevelopment.

Definitely. Although the craze Iā€™ve seen on the planes has died down in recent years. At its peak 6-7 years the overhead lockers on most flights I travelled used to be filled and normally you struggled to close them with boxes crammed of KK.

Yeah, noticed this morning thereā€™s a pop-up in a couple of months down here. There was one last year too.

The only thing worth buying at KKā€™s is the glazed donuts. Most of the other donuts they sell are justā€¦meh.

Itā€™s funny how thereā€™s been a massive resurgence of unashamedly unhealthy food (burgers, donuts, Nutella slathered crap) over the past few years. Fat and sugar are no longer dirty words in the food industry. The food industry probably hasnā€™t shown this much lack of restraint since the 1970s.

Judging by the number of obese people about, perhaps the companiesā€™ customers have just given up.

Yeah there has definitely been a resurgence of things like Donut and Burgers the last couple of years. Even though a lot of people have become more health conscious, I think it comes down to people becoming more foodies. E.gā€¦ I rarely eat Burgers but on the odd occasion that I do I think that if Iā€™m going to have the calories I might as well get a good one and enjoy it (over the likes of Maccaā€™s and other cheap tacky ones).

Gourmet donuts seem to be the thing in the past year in Melbourne, places like Doughnnut Time and similar are popping up in all the hipster areas (Such as Chapel st, Fitzroy etc). Danielā€™s Donutā€™s in Springvale has become very popular too, it is open 24 hours and if you go there on a Saturday night they have music pumping and Iā€™ve seen lines halfway down the street.

In Sydney Doughnut Time at Newtown, Surry Hills and Glebe had queues too but not any more.

Danielā€™s Donuts has been around for a year now and the hype has not died down. Most places open and have a bit of a good run and die down but it seems to just get more and more popular as the word spreads. I know many people who travel from pretty far just to buy boxes and itā€™s busy at all hours of the morning. I donā€™t know of any other 24/7 donut shop. I donā€™t really get the hype personally, although the donuts are very light and fluffy and not as heavy as most others which must be the appeal.

Certainly at the original Doughnut Time store in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane itā€™s died down, but not by much. It would still be as busy today as it was in 2014, were it not for the dozens of new DT stalls everywhere.

The queues at Sushi Hub are the ones that surprise me. There are about a million sushi shops around these days. Why do people suddenly queue up like crazy at all the Sushi Hub shops?

Maybe people just like things ending with Hub.

Pornhub, Newshub, Mediahub.

Those terrible radio ads they have with this jingle?

Thatā€™s it. Maybe itā€™s a case of the adverts working for them

Woolworths Kerang has a new front end. The new design looks so out of place with so many elements of the store still stuck in the 80s. On the plus they now have self service registers for the first time with about half of them being card only. I will try and post some pics early next week

Sushi Hubā€™s okay, but their rolls are a bit more expensive than a typical sushi place.

Further fallout from Masters collapse with Charter Hall seizing control of a portfolio of six former stores in NSW, Queensland and WA.

Watching 9Gem tonight, spotted an Aldi ad with a new logo. Rebrand coming soon?

Probably adopting the logo change first announced in March.

Took them a while, finally rolling it out when they said June was the originally scheduled month for the rebrand, all the way back in March! Iā€™d say the new Aldi Store in Warwick replacing Best & Less will be the first Perth Store with the new Branding and Logo.

While out and about today I noticed that one of my local Woolies stores has recently and FINALLY updated to the current ā€˜peeled appleā€™ design after a decade since the logo was originally launched. I wonder how many (if any) there are left to update?
