Looking a little dark in there.
kmart was in there before and target replaced it years ago so now kmart is returning to charlestown
Kind of, though Kmart was down where Woolworths is now, that was before the big redevelopment in 2010.
Target I think has been there since 1996.
Ha. I actually noticed that on Friday afternoon that they were transforming it into Liquorland Warehouse. The First Choice didnāt last long there. Thereās a good size bottle shop at the next block at Banksia Hotel too.
Iām glad they rebranded. That yellow colour scheme is hideous and the logo was bad too. Even the previous colours for First Choice had been better but the new black and white colour scheme looks cool and upmarket.
Crazy short time to get a changeover done, I assume it will just be new shelving with no changes to floors, back of house or much else.
Are they marking down the whole lot or just clothing? I recall the BIGW at Parkmore went whole store % off when closing the other month.
I didnāt really go on to check! Iāll have a look tomorrow but it seemed like it was just clothing left, but at what price, Iām not sure.
I guess half the place is Anko so they donāt really need to clear that much. Probably just sent off to other Target stores and the Anko just put back on the new shelving.
I think it was the Target conversion in Doncaster they did, it was weird as they didnāt do the floors so you had all the wood grain and white tiles that Target had for its floor layout all out of whack with the Kmart floor plan which is somewhat quite different to Target.
Hopefully they will have Registers at the front.
They do that alot to cheap out. You can notice it at Woolworths stores they rarely replace the floors unless they really have to. Some stores have the green coloured tiles in the fruit and veg section from around the 2007 refit. Also some stores like the one at St Ives and Capalaba Central have wooden floors that they havenāt replaced during more recent refits. I know the St Ives one had duck tape on the floor covering a few holes. It used to be my local but havenāt been out there for a few years now I hope they have properly refitted the St Ives store. Iād like to know what criteria they use as some stores get refits quite regularly some have to wait ages. Like the two Woolworths stores at Victoria Point in Queensland the store in the strip mall over where mcdonalds and Bunnings are got a refit a bit over a year ago whereby the one in the shopping centre hasnāt and it is really showing Itās age when I was last there earlier in the year.
Often trade based. Higher trading stores will always get the capital, those smaller trading that are not contributing that much donāt. A few other variables at play including lease tenure, customer scores, competition and growth opportunities.
Iāve noted the last bunch of BIGW upgrades are all top trading stores, they have nearly finished the Melbourne city store I noted when in there last weekend.
Does Coles have a latest and greatest format they are trying? I see the Woolworths current is the black roof with wooden walls etc, really spaced out aisles.
A former Bunnings Warehouse at Narre Warren in Melbourneās outer south east will be converted into a shopping complex called Fountain Gate Central.
Iām assuming itās a Westfield development, as Iām sure there would be objections to use of the Fountain Gate name otherwise.
It has no relation with Westfield. As the article says:
Mainbrace Constructions and real estate investment trust BWP Trust turned the first sod on the project last week.
Our only Woolworths in Yeppoon had self service checkouts only put in a few years ago and a reno of the deli and a butcher added in .
Still has the same wooden floors though .
BWP Trust is what Wesfarmers uses to develop Bunnings sites. Then they sell them off once established.
Itās also worth noting most of the Super Retail brands are already in that area.
Supercheap is literally just across the road, Macpac is across outside Fountain Gate in the former Rays Outdoors building. Rebel is in the Spotlight centre.
Will be interesting to see what fills those spaces, especially Macpac.
kmart was in the original Charlestown Square when it first opened back in 1979 along with coles target may have replaced kmart back in 1996
Mirvac sells Toombul Shopping Centre to Irvine Group amid plans to bring back retail

Farmers angry as Woolworths imports US butter in green and gold packaging - ABC News
I notice my store has the Essentials back in stock it wasnāt discontinued and for the same price you can get NZ butter than that white American stuff.
Percy Pigs and Colin the Caterpillar are on their way to Coles. Some other M&S food will be available at select Coles too.
The suggested search in the Coles app also gives away some of the products.
