We’ve been told that in the interim, the SA/NT notation is acceptable, but an approved logo will be required soon

Yeah - it was odd to see given it doesn’t apply here.

Toys ‘R’ Us’ Australian stores are at risk of closure after the company revealed it was preparing to sell or close all 885 stores in the US after failing to reach a deal to restructure billions of dollars of debt. According to The Wall Street Journal, CEO David Brandon told staff the company would likely liquidate stores in Australia, France, Spain and Poland, and would try to sell operations in central Europe, Asia and Canada.

Perhaps this might actually happen to Toys R Us stores if they close down?

Not a big loss IMO, in Australia they didn’t really provide much that Target / Kmart / Big W / online stores didn’t already provide at least in recent years and they’ve become way too focused on Baby products.

Judging by social media there was A LOT of people that loved the brand in the US (but may not have actually spent much recently in there judging by the outcome), lots of emotional tweets mourning the chains loss.

Wesfarmers is set to “demerge” the Coles supermarlet business to a standalone business. This will also include the liquor and convenience stores.

So Coles will become its own company?

Yes.

Well, it’s not entirely dropping Coles.

So?

The Larger Remaining Target Stores need to Shrink It’s Size Down to Around 2,500 to 3,000sq M just as Close to Their Current Smaller Stores to Match it’s Nearest Rival Harris Scarfe and Eliminate Stationery.

From my observations the Target Country stores are generally smaller than Harris Scarfe stores.

Do the regular Target stores really need all that room?

The new Kmart at East Vic Park in Perth that replaced the Target store feels a little small and cluttered. A few minor design elements I noticed and it seems like they’ve kept the Target wood style flooring which feels a bit weird.

Done it on the cheap perhaps? The old Target was probably the oldest without a refurb still operating in Perth.
