And the QLD stations too, assuming there is no SCA takeover in the works
And would have to sell Muswellbrook to gain Newcastle.
According to The Australian, 2SM is looking to rejuvenate its programming next year, potentially pursuing the following options:
Erin Molan to host the breakfast show
Jason Morrison for a talkback morning program
Melissa Doyle to host Afternoons
Because what we need is another right-leaning talk station.
The big question, will 2SM in 2025 still have the dribblers beamed in from 2HD outside of these hours?
Judging by the sound of thair direction, Iām guessing not⦠seems like they are looking to improve the overall quality.
well it isā¦
So theyāll be skewing their gossip/speculation in that direction
I think thatās a simplistic view. Obviously someone in the know has fed this information to the papers. These names arenāt just pulled out of thin air - the article reinforces that all these people have been sounded out.
Of course, they may be right. But i wouldnāt just take The Australianās word as guaranteed given their tendency to skew everything one way.
It makes sense for these names to be legit - especially Erin & Jason, both of which would/could be actively looking for new work.
Iād be a bit sceptical as to just how committed the new management is to investing into the station for it to succeed.
Iām sure whoever joins in 2025 would need a solid support team of producers, production and even a strong sales & promotions team.
Was speaking to someone whoās is in Operations at SRN on Friday and some good changes are coming to the network to take it in a new direction
Was asked not to mention any of the changes publicly, but just know changes are in the works now the network has new management
Hard right with Erin and Jason into Mel? Huh?
Iād like Mike Jeffreys getting a gig on 2sm nights 5 days. Would be my vote, or Brian Carlton.
This is 2SM/SRNās chance to capitalise on the great ex-2UE/2GB talent out there.
So many names. Such good talent available.
Has Spoonyman moved back to NSW? Last thing i heard he was in Tasmania
Spoonman would be brilliant weeknights on SRN.
Brian is a fill-in presenter for 2CC
Letās hope more music on the regional legacy stations. Driving back from Sydney last week and both 2RE and Radio 531 had a music afternoon shift. And the music wasnāt too bad I might add.
Just a side note, I have noticed that the signage for 2HC has been taken down from the 2HC office/studio in Coffs Harbour. Antennas and satellite dish are still on the building. Iām not sure if they are still in there or if they have vacated.
Itās almost a tradition for all BOG AM stations to be local 12-3pm with a music shift. Very few, if any (other than 2HD) have a talkback show 12-3pm weekdays.
The fact that local regional BOG markets play music when local, should be speaking volumes about what their market can deliver & what their listeners likely want to hear outside of networked airtime.
