SRN summer weekend announcer Jono is the same Jono who is filling in for Krivo on NewFM Drive with Ari.

Speaking of Ari, does Ari then become Ariana and read the hourly local news at Drive on NewFM? If it’s her, she definitely puts on a very different news voice than the playful voice she has during the show.

I found myself in Tamworth yesterday. As critical as I am of SRN, the local music mix on TMFM is very welcome over mindless chatter from 2SM Sydney. Just a shame it only lasts until 6pm!

The sound quality wasn’t great but then again I’m used to capital city radio.

Agree on the use of music over talk.

I didn’t notice any issue with the TMFM sound quality when I passed through just before New Years. What was wrong with it?

If only they streamed, the whole country and the world could hear it, .better than the usual rage baiting rubbish they use to fill space.

There’s really not much difference to the old men jibbering who call into the old man, Mike Jeffreys on 2GB.

They sound rabid, unhinged, listening to too much steaming radio the many Melb callers to his show.

No caller in the 15mins I’ve given him have added to the show.

Impatient old men who forever talk politics via their own warped world view.

That’s interesting you say that because I sample ABC and 2GB as well at night and overnight .

I was only thinking the same thing.

The quality of 2GB night and especially overnight is pretty low, and Gary , and particularly Cheralyn & Matt hold up pretty well in comparison .

This sounds mean to SRN, but I was surprised and I realised it’s more the production values & glitches rather than the quality of content and presenters that is the real issue .

The grass definitely isn’t always greener it seems

I’m really not sure why 2GB keep Mike Jeffreys on one night per week tbh.

Tue- Fri when Phil O’Neil is on it’s quite a good show overnight and I think he did a good job over the 3 weeks he did the show nationally.

Cheralyns show is ok when I listen in, probably one of the better presenters on SRN’s permanent lineup.

Cheralyn really puts a lot of effort into her show. I still doubt if she has any producer. If she’s producing all these segments, guests & lining up all the callers, she is doing a brilliant job solo.

If only she had a producer - she could deliver (slightly) harder hitting news stories as well.

Cherylns ok she knows about media and that guests and content is superior to calls about the same dross.

It must be tough to listen to bs conspiracy theories for 6hours so pre recording segments so you can have a break is a good idea, the guests also get exposure and advertising so it’s a win, win.

I remember Pete Davis during the voice campaign, Pete identifies as indigenous and the endless rot from moldy ex library book white supremacist stuff was wearing.

The callers are generally the problem and presenters need to curate a quality base or don’t bother.

Tracy Mac no longer on the 2SM (or 2HD) website.

What’s happened there with Tracy I wonder ?

Mercifully, I haven’t much of Mike James either.

Seems like Gary Stewart is the main overnight presenter now, with a smattering of Matt Roberts & others who have bounced around different days

I too think Cheralyn show is good. It is light entertainment rather than strong current affairs , but it’s not a bad thing . You’re so right about the callers, it’s difficult to be serious when you’ve got the likes of Shane or Warren or Glen et al.

Tracy sounds like she had a lot of stuff going on so probably found it not really worth it, plus her slow stilted cadence almost tripped the dead air music a few times. Cocko covered a few shifts but it was only a matter of time really.

Tracy seems really pleasant on air but maybe not quite as knowledgeable as the others . Im not sure what you mean by Cocko , is that the Jonno guy ? He goes fairly well too

I believe they’re talking about Dave Cochraine. Didn’t know he was doing network shifts again, though he only works 3 days a week on his normal show anyway.

Sorry, Dave cochrane, he covers everything, he’s a great panel operator knows a lot about the biz ,but perhaps he’s to available and works a bit too hard at times.

Matt Roberts talk is total rot, complete garbage. All the usual victims call in before or after medication time, hard to tell. No wonder presenters leave.
