Did you book your tickets for the cruise :star_struck: Barry loves cruises but not this one.

Why would I want to be stuck in an enclosed space with Drunko McFeely? Still, it’s a great scam he’s running, how many people who listen to 2SM even have over $20,000 to toss away.

Matt Roberts has been there a year or so - seems more sensible and educated than some of the others but I am pretty sure he leans right

Barry Hill is still going strong on weekends . I listen on 2BS and I’m sure he’s still on

Thanks for the update. I don’t listen as much on the weekend as I do the weekdays, and the few times I’ve put 2HD on at the weekend since Bult Brentitude moved back to afternoons, I haven’t heard him on.

Barry has a lot of experience, I like pete Davis, Dave sutherland David gubbay, kind of peaceful radio. There’s now to much hate that comes from misunderstanding and old tropes on the network now.

Barry has a way of talking people down from their rage and redirects them into normal talk. I think he is honest and clever. Anyone can hate, peace is something else.

Is it just me or are all the SRN stations just waiting it out to be bought out by the bigger companies like SCA? Driving through central west today and B-rock has never sounded worse - is it pop or rock? Is it a breakfast shift or a workday shift (all they’re doing is back announcing songs) when every presenter sounds dreadful and is obviously voice tracked or else god help them. I understand embarrassing pay level is wildly low, but what are the standards here? Just liquidate smaller stations and reinvest into making a decent product for gods sake

The whole SRN sounds awful. I’ve heard community stations with better sound and content.

BOG FM stations in markets aside from Mudgee, Moree, Taree, Lismore and Tamworth all need a massive shakeup.

I don’t know who they could sell to but they’re like a copycat of talk radio/TV from London, maybe they’re hoping Murdoch will find a way?

I :100: agree. The only station I like of theirs is Now FM.

As for the BOG regional Talk stations, they would have to be one of the boringness stations I have ever heard.

Their AM stations do play some great music when they are on local shifts.

It’s not just limited to SRN, but the lack of competition has led to a lot of regional radio output approaching slop that people just simply aren’t interested in listening to.

Agreed, however in fairness to ARN, SCA, ACE and Capital, their regional music stations are a decent listen as are Rebel and Breeze.

I thought they were only talkback stations. I had a listen to 4GY a few months ago during the week and I never heard them play one song.

What hours do they play music?

Most of the regional station’s local programs (all 6-9, as far as I know all except 2HD and 2MO opt out of parts of Bult Brentitude, but none who take it drop the whole thing, 2HD 3-5, 2BS, TM-FM and the North Queensland stations are local all day outside of Chris Smith, some also have local weekend mornings) are full on music shifts. Most of the network shows (I think all other than Chris, Talkin Sport and Sports Today) play 2 or 3 songs an hour.

It depends on the station. TMFM Tamworth, 2RE FM Taree and 2MG FM Mudgee are live and local each weekday afternoon until 5/6pm and Saturday mornings too, that’s when they play music. Other stations may not do as much.

You see it but how to get people to listen to radio again?

Better content including better music. You have to make the music actually something people want to hear over their streaming playlists. It can be done. I have a fantastic YT Premium playlist but I still choose to listen to Rebel and Breeze because of their playlists, professional presenters, and a smattering of news and weather. In short, radio needs to get back to basics.
