He started to grow he’s hair in mid 2025.![]()
Looks like Greg Pearce without my glasses and not zooming in lol
Going to be honest… the OB from a loading bay looks shithouse.
He had glasses on for a few years. Unregconisable from the days when he was on Channel 9 Perth!
It aint no Martin Place.
I don’t think anyone outside of this thread would really take much notice to care. Gotta make do with what they’ve got.
Happy 35th Birthday to Sunrise today according to TV Week
Wiki
The history of Sunrise can be traced back to 14 January 1991 when 11AM news presenter Darren McDonald began presenting an early morning Seven News – Sunrise Edition bulletin, three days prior to the Gulf War’s start.
Happy 35th birthday Sunrise. There was a special Olympic Sunrise during the 2000 Olympics. I miss the old Martin Place Days
NBC’s Today Show debuted on the same day 39 years earlier.
it’s a bit of a stretch. Yes the name dates back to 1991 but the Sunrise program that began then was really just an early morning news bulletin. IIRC, it wasn’t really until the early 2000s that the show developed into the broader breakfast TV format.
As fantastic as that was as a concept (having the show produced at a glass-front studio wherein members of the public can watch the show through the windows), sometimes it proved to be a distraction and the windows/curtains would close to shield off the public.
Mentioned on the NBC News thread. Their 75th anniversary is next year
“Well Good Morning Mel” - in David Koch’s posh voice.
I’m pretty sure Seven acknowledges the show’s official launch date as February 28 (or somewhere like that), 2002.
I can vaguely remember watching Sunrise just before Agro Cartoon Connection started in 1996. It was an hour format then. Basically news, finance and weather. In a lot of ways it did lay the foundation for Seven to expand years later.
They did in 2012 but I think it keeps changing when it suits Seven. Similar to how Nine celebrated ACAs birthday and pushed it back to the 1970s.
Even in the 1996-99 days, Kochie and Mel made it feel different to a straight news bulletin. I recall Kochie taking leave (maybe 6 months?) to travel with his family and he was sending back postcards which were shared on air. Nick McArdle co-hosted with Mel in Kochie’s absence.
In the 2000 iteration with Beretts and Georgie Gardiner viewers were encouraged to email in. I sent an email to the program and got a reply from Beretts.
New promo during the cricket.
Nat and Shirvo return Tuesday 27 January.
Why don’t they just put:
"Nat & Shirvo - Back Tuesday Jan 27
or "Nat & Shirvo - Weekdays from Tuesday Jan 27
Adding “and each morning” is so clunky
