Australian English originated from British English so that’s expected.
I don’t think it is. For whatever reason Sunrise has a history of using American terms when there is already an Australian term for the same thing. There’s no reason for them to do that but they do it frequently and have done so since the show started.
When do you ever hear an Australian refer to anything as a backlot? We don’t say that.
Anyway, as an Australian who has lived in the US for 17 years and is also a US citizen, I don’t want to see Australia any more Americanised than it already is.
Of course not. Mainly because we don’t have any as such for making movies in. But they’re throwing a bit of Hollywood in there for fun. I don’t see why you’re so upset.
What do you want them to caption? The junk yard next to the loading dock out the back?
It was great to see Nat and Mon hosting together. it shows the depth of talent at Sunrise that no matter who is on it just feels normal.
Also must say Woiwood Downtown Abbey interview was very well done. The actors seemed to enjoy him where as these interviews often feel very cookie cutter. It was entertaining. Sunrise just does things better.
Nat and Mon hosting was refreshing to see and for me that should have been the arrangement after Sam left. I still don’t like the number of stories the two hosts present before going to Eddie for the rest of the news. I think they should go directly to Eddie like they do on the half hour.
My pet hate is that a lot of popular sport people are referred to as legends or stars even when they have been reported doing stupid things.
Plus also when people say Reach out instead of contacted. For example we reached out to the PM’s department for comment instead of we were in contact with the PM 's department for comment on the issue however nothing was furthcoming before our deadline. For example.
It’s the clickbait language. Every single story on the likes of the Daily Fail and news(?).com.au have “AFL Star” when it’s some guy who played 2 games.
One’s much shorter and more conversational, which is the tone of a morning news program.
Nice line from Sam Mac after he was thrown to on the boat after Kylie’s cameo: “thanks for making room for a straight white male, am I the token hire now?”
