TBF though Sunrise would have live crosses to local reporters in the other capital cities for various stories, wouldn’t they? They may not be ‘local’ news but resources are seemingly put into including coverage from those cities
If Melbourne/Sydney/Adelaide gets prerecorded updates overnight there could be hours old news and is some breaking news or news develops which normally happens. If that happen they air a prerecorded update that doesn’t have the latest developments which defeats the whole purpose of having a news update.
Weekend Sunrise had all of the Melbourne guests standing in what was a very empty newsroom this morning. I think I prefer the sky cam.
Yes there are live crosses to reporters in every city (except Perth unless there is big news), but often they’ll cover a national story, not something of local significance (like a cross to Melbourne for interest rates).
Isn’t the former just pre-recorded updates from the night before?
Still unclear as to whether the Tasmania and Spencer Gulf updates are live or pre-recorded
No way they’re live. SCA wouldn’t stump up that cash
My understanding is all breakfast updates are done the night before.
Can anyone confirm whether the breakfast updates are live?
I wouldn’t say that. Gold Coast’s most congested road and a Sydney factory fire are quite hyper-local stories with little national relevance.
What tomorrow and see if they actually report on any breaking news overnight. I think you’ll find they don’t. The stories are usually very general in nature to disguise the fact they’ve been pre-recorded in excess of 12 hours earlier.
Not all the time, but often enough
