Interesting blue material cover over the bench during the cooking segment??

Makes sense. This amount of chopping and changing wouldn’t be planned. Larry has posted to Instagram that he’s on an overseas trip so surely planned.

Nat has done some ‘Covid cooking’ in her Instagram story today.

Maybe Mon also had it, and she might be ready to replace Nat by Monday (she was away all week), hence Kylie saying “thanks for having me”…

It was mentioned this morning that Nat is in isolation after testing positive to covid and is recovering well and Kochie said she will be returning on Wednesday.

Monique mentioned that she was in isolation last week.

Apparently Nat has Coovid which is why she hasn’t been on the show for the past week or so.

If you follow her on Insta you would know this as she mentioned it 87 times over the weekend.

The lead story across Sunrise this morning was the Manly pride jersey - opening story of the morning and across each news break. In addition multiple references, crosses and discussion. While, certainly worth covering, on a day with a potential airport strike and the opening of Parliament ect strange choice IMO. Also very Sydney focused and of most interest in NRL territory. While covered by Today, it was not the lead story and received a lot less coverage on the NRL rights network.

Sunrise scores gold for breakfast

Australia’s winning team is your ticket to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Australia’s number one breakfast show Sunrise will be your exclusive home for all the gold and glory, live and free, from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Join Sunrise co-hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr each weekday on Seven and 7plus as they cross live and exclusively to Birmingham, where the show’s own sports guru, Mark Beretta, will bring breakfast TV viewers the latest in Games news and views.

Beretts will hand over to an all-star team of expert commentators, who can boast of their own Games glory and are now passing the baton to a new generation of athletes chasing their dreams.

From this Friday to 8 August, the rotating panel of our greatest sporting champions will get viewers up-to-speed with the overnight action, and cheer on the gold medal moments set to air early each day.

The “Sunrise panel of champions” includes swim star Giaan Rooney; cycling great Stuart O’Grady; athletics icons Jana Pittman and Jon Steffensen; netball giant Caitlin Bassett; cricketer Elyse Villani; and basketball hero Shane Heal.

MEET THE CHAMPIONS

Giaan Rooney: At 15, Giaan signalled her talent to the world, winning gold at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and backing up with two silver medals at the Sydney Olympics two years later. In Athens in 2004, she was part of the gold-winning, world record-breaking relay team.

Stuart O’Grady: Our cycling expert is Australia’s finest, with a career spanning almost two decades. Stuart is a two-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist. He raced in six Olympic Games and three Commonwealth Games, and rode the Tour De France 17 times.

Jana Pittman: Studying her HSC as she competed for the Sydney Olympics, the champion hurdler and sprinter would go on to win four Commonwealth gold medals and became the first Australian woman to compete at both the summer and winter Olympics (in bobsled in the latter).

Jon Steffensen: One of the great personalities of track and field, Jon is also Australia’s most successful male sprinter. He won two gold at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games and competed in three Olympic Games.

Caitlin Bassett: Covering the court, Caitlin is a dual world champion, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist and a Super Netball Premiership player. She was also the captain of the Australian Diamonds.

Elyse Villani: With impeccable timing, Elyse is one of the most damaging batters in international women’s cricket. She helped the Australian women’s cricket team win the ICC World Cup, the ICC World T20 championship and win back the Ashes from England.

Shane Heal: Taking viewers from bounce to backboard is Shane, who represented Australia at four Olympic Games and had two stints in the NBA. He has also coached several winning teams and elite players.

Celebrate Friday’s Opening Ceremony on Sunrise, then watch as the gold rush begins from Saturday, 30 July, when Weekend Sunrise (7.00am to 10.00am) will showcase our medal haul from finals in cycling, gymnastics, athletics and swimming.

You can also choose your own sporting adventure each day of the Birmingham Games, with up to 30 dedicated channels – exclusive and free, live and replay – across Seven, 7mate and 7plus.

For every golden moment, start your day the winning way with Sunrise.

Found this amongst one of my all-day recordings I had set back in 2016. I had completely forgotten about their ‘Melbourne home’. Quite a good energy from the team, feeding off the studio audience. I always thought that set was quite homely too:

It was a coincidence that I had recorded on that day but I remember that I was glad that I did. I can’t remember now, though, if this was the last time they presented from HSV or whether it was the last day before they dumped this new format. I believe it was the latter. It’s hard to fit 3 hours into 10 minutes, but I think you get the gist. As you can tell, they’ve slowly reintroduced some of the concepts more recently.

Although that “GameDay” set at HSV is almost 20 years old, I think it highlights how much of a “homely soft set” the show needs.
