The intro for the interview on the anti-semitism investigation was so sensationalist

Despite Today winning Melbourne, one thing I’ve always found Sunrise does well is their local correspondents and live crosses.

In Melbourne alone, AFAIK, they’ve got (in order of ranking): Teegan Dolling, Andrew McCormack, Kristy Mayer (WS) and Hope Wilson (WS).

Mayer also a long-time senior journalist at HSV going back more than 11 years, has covered several major stories and previously held leadership positions in the newsroom including CoS.

Dolling prior to Docklands a number of years ago was previously at Prime7 Local News in Albury/Wodonga for an extended period too.

And McCormack of course was at the sport desk in the Seven Melbourne newsroom but prior to 2016 worked for TA at the Australian Open, Nine News and 1116 SEN radio dating back to 2012.

IIRC, she was a reporter on Today Tonight as well? I know the likes of Jackie Quist and Bryan Seymour transitioned to Seven News after TT on the East Coast was axed nearly 11 years ago to the day.

As well as other long-timers Christie Cooper and Nick Etchells are also all still at Seven News Melbourne AFAIK, working behind the scenes in senior leadership roles.

I swear I heard Etchells’ voice doing a daytime update during the cricket yesterday.

Part of the report

Sunday Confidential can reveal Sunrise - hosted by Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington - has recruited British entrepreneur and businesswoman Trinny Woodall to feature regularly on its breakfast TV program.

Following positive feedback after previous appearances, Woodall has officially joined the team and will make her first appearance in coming weeks.

Sunday Confidential has been told she’ll appear every month, maybe more, to answer beauty trends, reveal beauty hacks and do’s and don’ts on fashion and beauty.

The no doubt costly new recruit will likely raise the eyebrows of some within the network, with Seven having embarked on a major cost-cutting exercise in recent months.

That’s left of field - none of us could’ve guessed.

Wow. I thought it would be Sonia Kruger because from that pose on their promo

I mean it’s hardly anything, just a new regular to do monthly segments. The article mentioning budget cuts is irrelevant, since I’d assume she’s just paid per visit.

I’ve never even heard of this person.

Not particularly irrelevant then if they are having to pay more.

Expensive 6pm newsreaders don’t affect how Sunrise uses its budget to pay which guests it gets on. Sacking them doesn’t mean Sunrise was given more.

The cost cutting wasn’t just limited to 6pm newsreaders.

Yes - every show has a budget to work within but if you are signing up a new (likely well paid) contributor who is going to be invoicing regularly, then of course it is going to raise eyebrows.

Seven ran the series What Not To Wear with Trinny and Susannah years ago.

Assuming there might be some product placement from Trinny, she may not be getting paid at all.

She’s appeared a few times, more across TMS than Sunrise I think, but usually only when she has something to promote.
