Another big Nine win, nine points clear of Seven. Nine won all markets except Perth that fell to Seven. Nine won the key demos with 10 placed second.

Compared to the previous Sunday, ABC News helped ABC to a higher network share while 7Mate boosted Seven. Nine slipped a couple of points thanks to a dip in 9Gem’s share. 10 and SBS were steady.

The Block was back to split coding though there wasn’t much difference between the two segments. The show was up slightly on the previous week. 60 Minutes that followed was equal week-on-week.

Beat the Chasers slipped 30,000 from the premiere to rank second in its timeslot. In 25-54 it ranked 9th. The special episode of The Latest flopped to rank just 27th (though it was still officially coded as Crime Investigation Australia).

Junior MasterChef was even with last Sunday. FBI on 10 ranked 26th.

Coverage of developments in the US election saw two entries in the top 20 plus multiple entries for ABC News in the multichannels.

Nine and Seven News neck and neck in Sydney. Nine won in Adelaide by a decent margin though.

I finally caught beat the chasers and although it’s a good quiz show it is way too long!

Crime Investigation Australia aired after The Latest and was coded as Killer Tapes, so the figures will be adjusted.

Also for the coverage of Daniel Andrews’ press conference in the morning, announcing the easing of COVID-19 restrictions for Melbourne.

I was very surprised with the morning show appearing in top 20. How could this happen?
Nevertheless, Channel 9 did well thanks to The Block topping the night. This show was at a 2020 high.

In most states, it was actually rolling coverage of the US Election, and in Victoria, it was Dan Andrews press conference on the easing restrictions for a good chunk of the time.

Maybe they should’ve just kept CIA there?

Nice to see them flexing their spin-doctor vocab wings!

Two things Seven needs to consider:

  1. Bring back SA Life/Weekender or something like that so that they can have something competitive against South Aussie with Cosi over on Nine. They can’t let their dominance in Adelaide continue to be eroded away as a result of them showing Border Security encores against a local lifestyle show.

  2. Shorten Beat the Chasers to 60 minutes max. 90 minutes is unwatchable for reality shows and it’s no different for game shows. It’s too much of a drag despite being a high quality production. I hope they will give it another chance next year.

Completely agree, but I can’t see any major programming changes made at Seven until they lose the total five city number for the 6pm news (954k Seven last night v 931k Nine).

Even though Seven lost Adelaide, Seven’s philosophy seems to be not focusing on individual cities, but more so making sure they win the 5-city total.
