Huge start for Seven in week 33 with +40% shares in all markets. Nine while down did well to stay above 20%.

Seven’s win was off the back of the number one news service, the number one reality show and the Closing Ceremony of Tokyo 2020.

The Voice launched to 1.3 million which is up on the 2020 result for Nine of 1.01 million. It is the highest number for the season premiere since 2016 when 1.395 million tuned in.

The Closing Ceremony was just short of 1.3 million as well.

Over on Nine, The Block’s latest season disappointed with 747,000. That compares to 951,000 for 2020.

Meanwhile Survivor was up on the previous Sunday to 600k.

Perhaps the Block should focus less on drama and more on Home renovations.

Very costly production they wouldn’t want it to sink much further, however it deserves to. I hope it drops to the 600s.

The Block launch disappoints and Survivor preformed strongly against the competition. That Voice figure doesn’t mean anything at this stage. Tonight will be interesting.

Great start to the week for Seven thanks to The Voice and the Tokyo Olympics closing ceremony (which finished at around 11.25pm).
I think The Voice, The Block and Survivor will be much closer tonight.

Seven will be delighted about how well The Voice launch - it pulled a bigger audience than many of us (me included) and probably they thought it would.

Having said that, the big thing we’ll learn tonight (and then establish over the next few episodes) is how many people a) Tuned in because they were waiting for the Closing Ceremony and b) Return night-after-night to watch the show

It’s not really comparable due to the Olympics last night. Tonight will be crucial.

Channel 7 had a fantastic start to the week thanks to The Voice (which was No 1 program in Sydney) and the Closing Ceremony. although the Closing Ceremony was shown on a delayed telecast in WA, NT and SA.
AFL did well in 4 cities despite of the lopsided margin for the Fremantle-Brisbane Lions match. Had Fremantle been more competitive, the figures would have been much higher.
Sports Sunday cracked in to the Top 20 for the first time.

Yeah agree. Tonight is crucial - but The Block wasn’t up against any Olympic. Would be a factor though.

The Voice launched little higher than where I expected given it’s a very known format in this market. Be interested to see where it stabilises.

Wow. The Voice smashed The Block.

Great numbers for Outsiders and Weekend Live on SKY. What was major news yesterday?

I didn’t realise how little ch9 i have been watching. I’ve been watching a lot of tv but didn’t see a single promo for The Block, had no idea it was starting anytime soon.

I would be very happy to see The Block bomb, its a lazily produced show and hate how they get away with so much product placement. I have a feeling ratings will pick up once people realise it is on.

Let’s hope The Block flounders this year. From the parts I saw last night it was extremely cringeworthy and screams the perspectives of a 60 year old trying to be hip. Not to mention the arrogance of all these contestants whose egos are bigger than their boots. Not one likeable person from this year’s cast.

Interested to see how The Voice goes tonight. With Home and Away back it might take a drop like most Seven shows have done progressing from Sunday to Monday. Hopefully it still rates well though because last night was actually pretty refreshing.

Normally I am a huge fan of The Block. Last night it was screechy, tricky and with little warmth. The choice of contestants was very predictable and the reason I stopped watching My Kitchen Rules. You could almost guess what they were going to say next.

I wasn’t expecting that out of The Voice, though Seven did a good job promoting it and launching off a hugely successful Olympics I guess it isn’t too surprising.

Will be interesting to see how this holds up over time though, I suspect it will sink back to its usual territory.

Seven did really well, with The Voice Launch and the Closing Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. Not a good start for The Block, but as others said, tonight should be a truer test.

Sports Sunday made the top 20, thanks to Brisbane’s numbers, which were for the Queensland Press Conference re the virus. Interesting to see the numbers for the other cities though.
