It was a very crowded night to launch the newest season of The Block but it still won its timeslot with just under 1 million viewers – down from 1.16 million last year. It’s the lowest launch episode since season 10 in January 2015 that went up against the AO. AGT was steady with its last Sunday episode while Survivor did well to be up almost 70,000.

9Gem’s share was higher than ABC and 10’s main channel and highest in Perth where it was the number 2 channel behind Seven.

Good start for Les Norton.

Clearly Nine’s own cricket affected Block??

Survivor did very well to gain viewers from last week.

The cricket has been fantastic for 9 and will be again tonight.

The Block could have seens some lower figures because of the cricket but it might be the beginning of a slump for it. I actually went to see the finished appartments last night and they look fantastic from the outside.

I was thinking the same. But didn’t the block start at 7pm? What time did the ashes start? 8?

I think Nine would be happy to get over 39% and for 9Gem to beat ABC and Ten’s main channels. I doubt Nine would have gotten anywhere near 39% if the cricket had have been on the main channel.

Great results for AGT and Survivor, holding their audiences from last Sunday against the cricket.

Play starts at 8pm AEST, 7.30pm in SA/NT and 6pm in WA, so the cricket overlaps with The Block in all states.

What’s that got to do with what I said? Of course! Was referring to Cynic’s comment about Block apparently being down and an obvious reason why, although could be wrong.

Interesting reality battle. The Block began well winning in total viewers and demo’s. AGT had a bit of a boost back to reasonable numbers after it slumped last Monday so Seven would be happy with that. Survivor also improved from last Sunday but still 3rd in it’s timeslot and unable to top demos.

Sorry. I was referring to your previously stated opinion that the cricket should be on the main channel.

Ashes cricket clearly rated very well, Aussies were doing well by mid-evening, Smith on fire

According to 10, Survivor was number one in in its timeslot in 16-39 and 18-49 and number 2 in 25-54.

Those Ashes ratings in Brisbane seem really low

AGT must be skewing really old.
