On the back of a season-high 1.1 million for Married at First Sight, Nine won its seventh consecutive Sunday, up 1 on last week.

Second-placed Seven got some extra viewers for the main channel but the network share slipped by 1.4.

10 was down slightly while ABC posted its lowest Sunday share of the year. For SBS; its best Sunday of the survey period.

In the key demos, Nine was an easy winner but second place went to 10 as Seven’s line-up skewed very old - Dancing With The Star was 12th in 25-54, below FBI.

While Seven News had a good win at 6pm, Nine dominated the rest of the night. Dancing With The Stars was up 10k for its penultimate episode of the season while Survivor slipped by 25k.

Later, 60 Minutes was down 80k despite the lead in. ABC’s Troppo just made the top 20.

The afternoon’s NRL game was the highest Sunday result of the season.

Huge numbers for MAFS which is more than double that of Dancing which was it’s closest competitor in the timeslot. Australian Survivor has not really picked up this season. Ten would be disappointed with 440k this late in the season.

Sad for Survivor… it has really struggled leading the year, it deserves so much better it is easily hands down the best reality show on all year on any network.

Married at First Sights - no signs of slowing down. Which means another season will air next year. Sigh… But good on Nine for having a hit, i guess. I dont blame them for milking a hit.

Troppo on the ABC - not so well. I hope ABC’s other dramas on Sundays do better in the cooler months ahead.

Ten are to blame for putting one of their biggest formats against MAFS. That move was only going to do damage.

I would have agreed that it was one of the better reality offerings until this season. The casting wasn’t great and it feels like they are just flogging the same old repetitive tactics to stretch it out.

Did you ever think there was even a remote chance that another season wouldn’t air? The total audience reach of most episodes often more than doubles what we see in the overnight figures (to 2million plus for many episodes in a given week, when you include regional and video on demand numbers). I don’t think there are any entertainment shows that even come close to that.

MAFS is the only show that manages to rate strongly year after year (including regional and BVOD) when most other shows suffer ratings decline, just look at MasterChef and Survivor. MAFS definitely deserves its own subject in future media studies courses in universities.

Masterchef and Survivor have been flogged to absolute death. MAFS is relatively young compared to those two shows.

To me this year’s season has been one of the most boring and predictable with the contestants leaving it too late to break up the Sam + Mark couple. It also became very obvious halfway through the season who will win. The first 3 episodes of the new US Survivor have already been better for me than the entire Australian season. Not a suprise to see ratings so low.

They did it a few years ago and it made next to no difference to Survivors numbers. Survivor usually has a very loyal audience. This season is underperforming.
