I expected Ninja to dominate but am very surprised for the ratings of Farmer wants a Wife and Between Two Worlds. Complete opposite of what I was expecting.

I wonder if the drama would’ve done well on its own at 7.30 on a weeknight.

Quite a low share for 10 Bold.

The return of the Ninjas gave Nine its best Sunday share in 10 weeks. Nine won in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and was very close in Brisbane; but 7Mate’s share helped Seven to a win. Nine also won the key demo groups.

Ninja’s result is similar to the 2019 season launch that had 1,009,000. It was a timelsot winner in total people as well as a demo winner. Farmer Wants A Wife also got off to a good start, though it tended to shew older.

10’s share was its 3rd lowest share on a Sunday for the year; though B in P help it score a lot better with younger audiences. Bachelor was 6th in 25-54.

Between Two World rated average for a drama. It ranked 14th in 25-54 and was outrated by the movie Deadpool 2 on 7Mate. In 16-39 the dram ranked just 21st below US drama FBI.

A disappointing debut for Between Two Worlds. Maybe not the best timeslot for it? Maybe Seven needs to go back to building up Tuesday nights at 8.30pm for their Aussie dramas?

Or they could take a risk and air it at 7.30 on Tuesday night. Would surely do better than America’s Got Talent.

Hard to believe Farmer Wants a Wife did quite well. Outrating every episode of House Rules and MKR this year. If its ratings are stable then it will most likely be renewed for next year.

The content is a bit full-on for 7.30pm. Especially when you see episode 2.

Terrible demos for the drama - I’d say running it earlier would see it crushed by reality competition.

Re, the Adelaide & Perth ratings for Farmer Wants a Wife: It’d be particularly interesting to know if that was a top rating show in either city when Nine had it. If not I think we may have some definite proof that SA and particularly WA residents will watch anything that Channel Seven puts to air, compared to the East Coast cities where viewers preferred Ninja Warrior.

No discernable effects with the news ratings on a night Seven had a minor and barely noticeable branding refresh. Makes you wonder why they bothered.

Though to be honest, the East Coast will pretty much watch anything Nine puts on air just like Adelaide and Perth with Seven.

I could believe that there are many Sydneysiders who’ll watch just about anything Nine puts to air (although I’m personally a bit more discerning as a viewer), but I’m not too sure if that always applies to Melbourne & South East Queensland especially going by the news ratings.

Not a good start for Between Two Worlds, not helped by the drama overlapping with the last 20 minutes or so of Ninja Warrior.

The Farmer Wants a Wife had a decent premiere for Seven considering it last aired on Nine four years ago (season 9 premiered to 763,000 on February 1, 2016, following Australia’s Got Talent).

Quite close calls in some markets.
Nine News Sydney just edged over Seven there, whereas in Melbourne Seven News knocked a win over Nine. And Nine News Adelaide at 110,000, closing in on Seven News Adelaide.

I think Sydney and Melbourne are headed in Nine’s direction, but the SE QLD market is definitely a mixed bag!

A lot happened on Sunday! Lots of pros/cons for all.

Good decision to re-run “Deadpool 2” (which had its FTA premiere just days before) on 7mate, helped lift Seven a little. It was originally meant to be “Die Hard”.

Farmer wants a wife did really well.

Farmer Wants A Wife had a good season launch for Seven, as did Ninja Warrior for Nine.

I was hopeful that Seven’s Between Two Worlds would do better. Probably was better suited to Tuesdays, where Seven’s dramas used to dominate (Blue Heelers, All Saints, Packed to the Rafters and Winners & Losers). Sundays are probably more suited to tele-movies/ two-part mini-series (like Molly)

7 daytime programs make the top 20 = Insiders, Landline, Weekend Sunrise, Seven News at 5, Arvo AFL, NRL, Ten’s News First

Very surprised by Farmer. That’s higher than BB’s launch isn’t? Wasn’t as much hype I feel to BB but the older demos would have helped them.

Unfortunately, I think generally drama on FTA TV is the issue. Very few dramas gain a following. The networks have saturated themselves with reality shows and people perceive that the only place for quality drama is streaming services. Another night might get a few more eyeballs but not many I would argue.

Otherwise - both Ninja and Farmer did really well. Reason for both networks to be happy all round. I imagine Farmer would be cheaper to make than Ninja.

Secret she keeps did better on ten and it had already been on 10 play. It’s a shame the figures are low here as it will not persuade networks to make more drama. We need much more Australian drama than currently being served up.

Farmer did surprisingly well. The demos were shit though. Not sure how this even remotely rated. It’s a terrible show. Just like all these crappy dating shows.

Any idea how the long-awaited (I’m guessing now though not for many LOL) Liar second season premiere did after Between Two Worlds (a smidge after 9:30pm)?

It was horribly promoted, only two 20sec promos in the last ad breaks of BTW. Otherwise viewers would’ve had to discover/re-discover through guides/TV sites (like here on MS or TVT)/radio talk/word of mouth.

Scripted generally only has 65% Of it’s audience shoen in overnights. It will lift 35%

But still not great for between two worlds
