Nine just held on to win Sunday’s overnights – main channel and network but suffered a big drop from previous weeks. It was the network’s lowest Sunday share of this survey. The main beneficiaries were Seven and 10 that posed improved shares.

Nine won the three east coast markets easily while Seven won Adelaide and Perth thanks to +10% shares for 7Mate. 10 bettered Seven in Sydney and Melbourne. Seven was helped to a win in the demos by 7Mate’s AFL performance.

MasterChef again topped the reality shows in total people and key demos where it was “dominant”. The show posted its best Sunday result for seven weeks. The battle rounds started on The Voice but it still manged to hold onto second place while posting a Sunday low for this year. Big Brother trailed in third but ranked second in demos posting an improved result from the previous Sunday. Seven continues to code Big Brother into two programs but strangely last night saw the eviction rate lower than the rest of the program.

60 Minutes was well down on recent numbers posting a 6-week low. FBI: Most Wanted on 10 was at a season high while Seven’s repeat movie did better than some other recent titles.

No interest in 60 Mins last night. Perhaps they need to keep Karl away from anything non today related. Interesting trend here as he also had poor numbers on ACA.

Can’t he just focus on today and that’s it?

The rescheduled AFL match between Fremantle and Port Adelaide pushed Seven to within 0.2% of Nine in network shares.
As expected, The Voice began to drop as battle rounds began, while MasterChef and BB were both up.

Nine are paying Karl a LOT of money for very little return. Today may well finish the year 3rd in breakfast, his stint on ACA last week saw ratings below average and 60 Minutes last night had its worst showing in weeks.

Great figures for Masterchef. FBI is also doing really well for 10 on Sundays

hopefully 10 invests in a new promo for FBI. Julian McMahon overacting the line “It is not our job to bring justice to criminals… we bring criminals to justice.” has been driving me crazy for months.

Very interesting, considering he’s apparently negotiating a new deal with 9 (I think his current deal expires this year). According to The Australian, he wanted to keep his 2.5mil/year deal by getting paid 1.5mil for Today Show and another 1mil to replace Ben Fordham’s drive-time radio gig. Obviously the radio gig has already been given to someone else, and to be honest Today Show ratings are neck-in-neck with Breakfast News - would agree with you that it’s possible they’ll come 3rd. It seems Karl still puts viewers off, judging by ACA ratings

What were the ratings for the Suns v Crows game?

It came in 23rd overall - 16th in Melbourne, 4th in Adelaide, 42nd in Brisbane.

BB still number three but it’s beating The Voice in the demos so Seven should be happy. Masterchef still on top which should be great for 10. This season was do or die and they managed to nail it so props to their team.

Masterchef has been nailing the key demo of 25-54s: over 500k just in that demo last night!! BB was under 400k and The Voice a low 300k.

What was the 60 Mins story - perhaps this contributed. It’s an odd pairing The Voice followed by 60 minutes.

Something to do with Julian Assange’s girlfriend who is apparently pregnant??
It is an odd pairing however it happens every Sunday night - 60mins always comes after their primetime shows (MAFS, Lego Masters, Ninja Warrior, etc.)

Yeah, I doubt that would have interested many compared to other stories across the last few weeks. It’s got to be well themed for an easy transition.

Agreed, the story wasn’t as captivating as last week’s Labor branch-stacking or having someone as controversial as Pete Evans - but there seems to be a trend happening for both 60 Min and ACA that Karl’s appearances tend not to rate as well. Not to mention Today Show is slowly being overtaken by ABC Breakfast as well

Seven News Sydney winning against Nine News.
Seven News Brisbane keeping its winning weekend trend.
And note this is what different states are doing now:
Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide focused on MC with Brisbane and Perth on BB. The Voice is losing top numbers in states now.

Seven’s Border Security (in 17th place) aired in Melbourne (and presumably in Adelaide and Perth) at 5.30pm, when the AFL match ended early. It did not air in Brisbane, while Sydney’s numbers of 23,000 were okay, as it aired at exciting time of 1.30pm in the afternoon.

Incredible to see Masterchef so dominant over the competition when the last couple of years it’s really struggled on Sundays.

Big Brother had that huge Seven News lead in last night so it will be interesting if it will be able to sustain its audience or if there will be a drop.
