The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

A very good result for Nine, up above 30% share for its best Sunday in five weeks. That saw Seven slip by almost four points to its lowest Sunday number in nine weeks. 10 edged up but ABC slipped again.

Nine won all markets except Perth that went to Seven. Nine won the key demos with 10 second ahead of Seven. 9Go! had a good night.

The season launch of Ninja Warrior was the top entertainment show on offer last night with almost 800,000 viewers. That is the show’s lowest result in linear broadcast numbers by a long way. Previous seasons numbers were 1,040,000 (2020), 1,009,000 (2019), 929,000 (2018) and 1,6,76,000 (2018).

7News Spotlight drew 627,000 in preliminary numbers, just ahead of MasterChef, up 60k on the previous week. Demo honours were shared between the ninjas and the chefs.

Meanwhile, the second episode of this season of Jack Irish lost 100k from last week’s debut.

So I’m guessing Nine meant in its timeslot for Ninja 16-39s because it wasn’t the number 1 program. However if MasterChef AND Project also say number 1 in their slots, I’m not sure how Ninja could be.

At breakfast, Weekend Sunrise was 50k ahead of Weekend Today. News Breakfast was another 40k behind. The Sunrise numbers per market were posted above.

264,000 99,000 78,000 22,000 22,000 44,000

A very high number for Sydney while Brisbane was the show’s lowest rated market (before rounding) with the one of the lowest numbers I can remember. Today and News Breakfast both more than doubled that result.

It’s good seeing what the various 5.30pm travel shows rank in some cities.

Am surprised that Seven don’t code the various “Weekender” shows under the one banner to make the national top 20. Likewise with Nine, but a bit more trickier to name them for the national figures.

Don’t think a show airs in Melbourne? The footy’s usually always been on or old Border re-runs on a Saturday.
Think they tried a short lived Melbourne Weekender about 8 years ago, but it quickly vanished.

This followed the long-running and top rating Coxy’s Big Break finishing up.

Sunday Afternoon Football leads into the 6.00pm News on most weeks.

No reason why they couldn’t, they group all the news and current affair shows together.

Agree. They air each News together, why not these lifestyle shows. lol. Seven even used to have a “6.30pm News/ Today Tonight” as a combined show at one stage.

For Seven: Sydney and Brisbane can have a “weekender” for the ratings if it cracks the top 20. I understand re the AFL as a lead-in in the afl states.

For Nine: They can have “Nine’s 5.30pm Travel” for the ratings, which incorporates Cosi, Postcards and Destinations WA, which will certainly make the top 20 each week. Syd and Bris have the NRL.

Terrible night for Seven News Adelaide.

I think seven would be very happy with 7 News Spotlights performance.

Peter Stefanovic’s Sky News special on Australia’s cocaine crisis didn’t make the pay TV top 20 programs list.
