A good start to the week for Seven with its split schedule featuring The Brownlow Medal in AFL states. The network was 8 points clear of Nine to its best Sunday in four weeks. Nine held up well, with the main channel up on the previous week. 10 was the biggest loser, falling 3 points from last week that featured the Survivor finale.

Nine won Sydney and Brisbane while Seven won AFL markets all with +40% shares.

The Block was top entertainment show up slightly from last week to its second-best Sunday of the season.

The Brownlow averaged 889,000 that was up on last year’s ceremony that had 654,000. It was on par with other year’s results though. In NRL states, The 7News special on the Disappearance of William Tyrrell did fairly well.

Meanwhile 10’s The Masked singer could only manage 584,000 for the reveal with the rest of the show below 500k – a franchise low.

Over on ABC, The Newsreader improved on last week’s low while the one off Armadillo documentary had just 363,000 at 7.40pm.

Close finish to the Brownlow Medal count led to a huge increase in ratings.

Big audience (especially in Melbourne) for the Victorian Government press conference announcing the COVID roadmap - listed as Landline and Close of Business (both started at 12.30pm AEST).

People tiring of The Masked Singer already, I think 3 eps a week is too much. Possibly unpopular opinion too, but I don’t think Osher was the best choice of host given his overexposure across the network. The guessing panel line-up really needs a star power to bring viewers in too, Lindsay potentially had the tune in factor for S1 even if she hardly knew anyone. They also play the ads far too much as we know, so fatigue could well and truly be setting in.

I don’t think Osher is a problem considering it worked fine when he was stripped across 4 night Mon-Thurs previously, and they had an extra bachelor franchise airing.

Last night’s not a great comparison but I agree about 3 nights a week for shows like this. Ten should’ve learned from Tag and Holey Moley. 2 nights was pushing it but it worked. Why ruin a good thing.

My annoyance isn’t so much the over the top shouting and the stupid guesses, but the awful canned laughter.

See that may well very be the thing that’s contributed to the fatigue, especially with The Bachelor franchise waning. Having Osher on the TV 4 nights of the week across two different shows airing at the same time, plus Bachelorette and previously BIP and also Bondi Rescue is just an overload IMO.

Way too many adverts. Almost every ad break begins with the same ad so you end up with an earworm that really pisses off people. I don’t understand why they saturate their viewers with the constant adverts for whichever 7.30pm show they’re trying to push. To me it’s a huge turn off.

At breakfast it was a tie between Weekend Today and Weekend Sunrise - Today ranked higher with a few more viewers before rounding. Both shows were 30,000 ahead of Weekend Breakfast.

Not to mention if you watch Viceland they are running ads promoting Osher’s new show I think about anxiety. FFS way too much of him. No CBS we don’t need a network figurehead that has to be rammed down our throats, especially someone so bland.

I think Osher it part of the problem, eg oversaturation.

Though the real problem with reality tv now is they have so much extra inane, useless filler content used to pad out episodes. Shows could easily be condensed and episode run times shortened, but greedy networks must extend at all costs and shove more adverts in.

I lost count at how many times Australian Survivor reused the exact same scenes and confessionals. The clip of Flick emerging out of the water was used in at least four episodes.

I don’t think how many episodes of a show aired a week matters, if people want to watch, they’ll watch, look at The Block.

The problem is the Masked Singer is a stupid gimmicky show that had a novelty factor. The novelty has worn off.

Yes but there is a difference with 3 episodes of Survivor and Big Brother Vs Masked Singer, Holey Moley etc the latter are so high energy the whole way through that it can be too much several nights a week.

Is this a covid update?

The state breakdown figures would most likely confirm it was the Melbourne roadmap

Is this the right information? I thought the voice and survivor had finished the previous week.

You’re right but that was the info provided today by Oztam. I’ll delete for now.
