Sunday featured a big night of premieres with Nine’s The Floor coming out as a narrow winner, while Seven won the night overall and 10 had its best Sunday share since January.

Nine’s 7pm entry was back for its second season and had 979k after the first season debut episode averaged 1.171m last year. It is the lowest rated episode of the show so far.

The 1% Club Australia kicked off season four to average 953k on Seven. That compared to Season 3 that premiered to 1.053m in May 2025 as a timeslot winner.

MasterChef Australia’s 18th season commenced on 10 with 722k. That was up on to the previous Back to Win season that had 676k for its first episode. The result is higher than any episode of the 2025 season except the final.

While the commercials were airing premieres, ABC broadcast the season final of several series last night. The Piano Season 2 finished with 663k down on Season One’s final that had 701k in June 2025 while the season final of Can You Keep A Secret? that followed had 296k.

Later in the night, 60 Minutes slipped to second place in its timeslot with 697k, down from 855k the previous week. Increased competition came from 7NEWS Spotlight that saw its season premiere rate an impressive 723k. Meanwhile Race Across The World premiered on 10 for the first time and had 218k.

Seven slotted in a 7News special Harry And Meghan: Victory Or Vanity that managed 300k. It was up against Australian Crime Stories: The Investigators that returned with 422k. Abused By Mum: The Ruby Franke Scandal also made the top 30 with 161k for Seven.

In afternoon AFL, Melbourne beat Brisbane by 2 in a thriller while Fremantle beat West Coast in the western derby. The average audience was 563k. In the NRL the Eels had a big win over the Bulldogs that had 558k.

Seven News was back on top at 6pm with 1.529m to lead Nine’s Sunday bulletin that slipped to 1.439m. At breakfast, Weekend Sunrise was again below the 400k mark but still well ahead of Weekend Today that had 258k and Weekend Breakfast on 202k.

Fairly successful night for Seven, with The 1% Club putting a dent in the ratings of The Floor, plus the new season premiere of Spotlight beating 60 Minutes.

The new season launch of MasterChef also did well.

A close and very competitive night amongst Seven, Nine, 10 and the ABC. Refreshing to see and a rarity these days. I think they’ll all be happy, though Seven not really firing their next big gun yet.

Seven win, Nine got the key demos and 10 did well with MasterChef considering the other two’s AFL/NRL and news lead-ins. 10’s lead-out after MC suffered though, whereas 60 Minutes and Spotlight both did well.

9Now still streets ahead, while 10 Streaming comparatively weak.

Seven News and Nine News both big.

1% fell behind Floor (which dominated) and MasterChef with the key younger viewer group of 25-54s, though perhaps somewhat surprisingly 1% did beat MC in the youngest (16-39s).

Tonight and this week in general will be interesting to watch.

Thanks - corrected.

Seven with work to do in Sydney, Nine in Melbourne (which would be a bit disappointing) and especially Perth and 10 in Brisbane and to a lesser extent Perth.

Adelaide wafer thin, a nice surprise and pleasing to each network maybe, but could argue each are weak-ish or just a lower TV market or because of the population. Sydney and Melbourne still the battleground of course, especially advertiser/key demo wise, so in that regard Nine and 10 can both be somewhat happy today.

Away from Sunday/major sport lead-ins could be better to pass judgement, also adding the 5pm game shows and 7pm programs to the mix.

Can You Keep A Secret? was well written and fun. A shame it didn’t attract more viewers. The ABC should show all comedies on Wednesdays and not release all episodes on iView at the start of the season.

I watched The Piano final online a couple of weeks ago. If they continue to drop all episodes at once, then that would explain the low ratings for linear screenings.

Good start for Masterchef and a big improvement from Survivor in the timeslot. I thought this might be the season that dips off the back of a returnee season but it seems going back to newbies has worked well for them.

A pretty good battle across 7pm. The 1% Club and The Floor were very close. And Masterchef’s return doing well too.

The publicity of Seven’s Spotlight certainly helped them win over the 60 Minutes battle.

Well done to them. I didn’t watch but I am surprised by this showing. That’s good for 10. Let’s hope they sustain it.
