Big recovery for The Block to a season high, combining with cricket to give Nine an easy win – network shares were similar to the Sunday of the first test. Nine won all markets except Perth as well as the key demos. 10 beat Seven in 16-39. AGT was up slightly and Survivor down slightly.

Les Norton falls again as the ABC has a bad night recording its lowest network share this year.

Sunday Night had a big rise from last week.
Seems to me that viewers prefer to watch Les Norton later in the week when there are so many other programs to choose from last night.

The Block still has a lot of life in it. Those numbers are huge. Almost double Survivor’s audience, which is a distant 3rd in it’s timeslot. AGT doing OK, it will be interesting to see if it holds pu ro gets any boost tonight being the first semi-final.

Pretty much like everything has been for 10 on sundays. I don’t think 10 would be too disheartened it is up on most Sunday episodes of Masterchef and up against tougher competition.

Edit: in fact having looked back that episode outrated every Sunday episode of Masterchef.

Regardless IMO both shows have been underperforming. They need to stop being satisfied with being mediocre and find a real hit again. Hopefully The Masked Singer will be that.

Perhaps it’s not a huge hit… but you need to keep your second highest reality show. It has helped 10 get back into third position and is providing a stable audience and often beating other programs in the under 50 demographics. Time to look at things properly and get off the I hate the Australian survivor vendetta.

The AFL match between Richmond and West Coast rated very well on Fox Footy, pulling more viewers than the top of the table clash between Brisbane and Geelong (183,000) on Saturday.

So ratings define whether a program is good or mediocre? Surely we all realise it’s been hard for 10 to get an audience for any show regardless of quality. IMO neither MasterChef or Australian Survivor are mediocre and again IMO, both have MUCH higher production value than either The Block rubbish or the excruciating AGT! In fact I believe most SBS, ABC and 10 programs are far superior in quality to either 9 or 7.

I never said anything about the quality of any shows. I referred to mediocre ratings

And on a Ratings topic. Quality or lack thereof can be discussed in threads dedicated to the various programs.
Nine is sailing along nicely, with the Block back at last year’s levels. Cricket has also helped. With the 3rd test starting on Thursday, Nine is well placed to win another week.

Everything on TV is mediocre ratings. Its just a fact now that its rare a show will get to those highs it once did. Yeah we might get a Married at First Sight every couple of years. Just because a show isn’t hitting over 1 million doesn’t mean a network shouldn’t be satisfied. Especially if that show is winning its timeslot in the demographics, and potentially making the network money. I just find your comments totally hypocritical as well. Especially when you always ran to the defense of Dancing with the Stars and even suggested 10 renew it and ‘tweak’ the show. That was more medicore than Survivor and rated a lot less in the demos. I just think you need to put your bias for the Australian version of Survivor to one side when discussing the ratings of it. Fact is 10 have made a show for Australian’s not fans of the original concept. Because fact is Australians would not watching a version of the original american survivor here.

THE MID-YEAR ASHES: SECOND TEST -ENG V AUS 9Gem 144,000
That’s actually for the final session of the day’s play which was counted until the 2am cutoff. So many people staying up to see if Australia could survive the session (it did).

What bias? The only bias is that I’m a fan of the show but I’m commenting on the numbers. I watch Australian Survivor every night and haven’t missed an episode. Ten need to stop being satisfied with coming third in it’s timeslot is all I’m saying.

I’m also not sure what’s the go with the DWTS quote. I think DWTS underperformed as a whole and in it’s current format should not be renewed, but it deserves a second go if they can tweak the format as it showed growth in the finale so there’s potential there.

Survivor hasn’t been coming third in its timeslot. It has been coming first in its timeslot in the demos 10 chase. So your comment regarding that is totally irrelevant.

Where on Sunday night did it come first anywhere? It didn’t. The Block beats it in demos and total viewers.

Survivor isn’t just about Sundays, clearly you should know it airs 3 nights a week. I am not going to entertain your comments re this. I do think you have this sad angst against the Australian version of survivor and your judgment and comments are clouded by this. If you can go and defend DWTS at every opportunity while it is on and then completely go in the other direction regarding survivor it just proves this.

Yes but this is SUDAY’S ratings thread. I am commenting on the ratings and the performance of these shows on SUNDAY 18 AUGUST 2019.

OK so you have clearly conveniently forgotten how much I LOVED last season, right?

More crap that is untrue. Now you are just making stuff up. Pluck out one comment about the FINALE and I supposedly “defend DWTS at every opportunity”. I doubt I barely even commented much on DWTS at all throughout it’s season. I only ever watched one episode of DWTS. The show was barely ever even on my radar.

Seriously…

I think we should just agree to disagree on this.

I don’t know what we are agreeing to disagree on but you lost credibility in any point you were trying to make when you pluck out assumptions about me that are false or highly exaggerated.
