Nine gets another week off to a good start with a +30% share almost 7 points clear of Seven winning all markets except Perth.

H&A Perfect Holiday blitzed the competition as Seven had yet another failure to launch with Zumbo below 500k for its season premier. That’s the lowest rating for an episode of the series ever. The original season launched to 1.08 million in 2016 and averaged 760k with a season low of 647,000.

The penultimate episode of Sunday Night scored the series lowest ever rating.

Zumbo doesn’t have a fantastic start but it isn’t that awful either. It’s demos seem to be ok.

I thought I was watching 7food Network not Ch 7, because it looked like one of those terrible Scripps cupcake shows

Kinda expected more from Hamish and Andy - it was a great show, I loved it, and i typically haven’t been a huge H&A fan.

It was in the top 5 of every demo but it was a very distant number 5.

I’m surprised that it rated as well as it did give the slump that Nine fell in post 7.30pm last week. I still think the first episode should have launched the day after The Block finale and it would have got 1mill+ and possibly a bigger audience then come back to it on Sunday. It had zero competition so had every opportunity to do well.

The bad news for Zumbo is that it is up against good opposition for the rest of the week (The Amazing Race on Monday and Tuesday, and Seven Worlds One Planet on Wednesday).

Hamish and Andy last night is stronger competition that The Amazing Race will be. Zumbo actually has better opportunity to do well tonight IMO as I can’t see much else on Nine this week rating too big.

Only positive for Zumbo is that is ranked in the Top 5 key demos, which we know Seven are focussing on now. But was well thrashed in its timeslot.

Total Control finished on a high, just 33,000 behind 60 Minutes. The drama won in Melbourne and Adelaide as well.

The other positive for Zumbo is it was only renewed due to big success on Netflix worldwide. With Netflix as a co-producer this season I suspect the margin for profit is relatively good. THough still not a great launch on FTA>

Personally, I have to say that last night was a poor night of TV all round (especially on the commercial networks) with the ratings reflecting that. I mean, really. Barely over 900k for Seven News?! The #1 entertainment program on FTA in the 800k mark?!

Years ago, Seven, Nine and Ten all seemed to pack their November programming lineups full of finales, special events and (until around the mid 2000s, when they were still relevant to Australian TV) blockbuster movies. These days, it’s almost as if the commercial networks essentially give up trying to keep viewers between the football Grand Finals and the start of the cricket & tennis seasons! Pretty shocking especially when many major advertisers who help pay the bills for our networks would currently be trying to get customers in the lead-up to Summer and Christmas/New Year which for many companies would be their busiest times of the year.

That was midway through last year, but McGarvey must now have gone back on that thinking, at least on Sundays in November.

Welcome back @SydneyCityTV :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If Ten want us to take them seriously, they really should have had a special in that slot to cover the one week break with Graham Norton. New episodes are not doing well enough to be able to air repeats in prime time.

Wasn’t it a compilation show, not a repeat? Or was it a repeat of the compilation show?

Agree - last night’s ratings are poor across the board. Not one show to reach the magic million mark. And 20th fails to even reach 200k (it’s starting to look a lot like Saturdays’s ratings. haha).

Hamish and Andy’s special shows used to rate big. They haven’t been on air for a while now, so i expected bigger numbers for them. As for Zumbo’s return. i kind of expected those numbers.

One positive though: Total Control’s final episode for the ABC did well. Not many Aussie dramas have done well of late.

It was a repeat of the compilation show.
