#2

The winner’s announcement rating for I’m A Celebrity was almost identical to last year’s number (held on a Monday). Married AFS continued its dominance but MKR dropped 140k from last Sunday.

Looks like a lot switched over to Ten at 8.30ish as 60 Minutes dropped almost 250,000 from last Sunday and the return of Sunday Night for its 10th season was the show’s lowest in survey result ever.

Will have to wait to check on the Big Bash numbers due to the post 6pm finish. Session 2 of the Big Bash final last year had 1,042,000.

#3

MAFS continues to dominate anything in its sight…

#4

BBL is now a proven dud. The simulcast has killed the game and can’t even beat the winner announced of Celebrity. Seriously questions will need to be asked about the future of the game.

Other than that, same old, nothing new. Sunday Night is a dud as well with the worst ratings ever.

Australia must be proud of its achievement.

#5

BBL final ratings down on last year due to the late finish to the season and simulcast on Fox Cricket.
Cricket Australia must take a thorough review of the BBL format.
The all-Melbourne final didn’t help the ratings of Seven News in the city.

#6

The Celeb Finale did OK but would have done better had it aired last week. The Thursday episode the previous week actually pulled similar numbers to the finale. Just one of Ten’s stupid decisions in the past week.

#7

Good finish for I’m A Celeb. Lucky it didn’t lose too much momentum from being delayed. Can’t help thinking that it would have done better if they screened it Wednesday or Thursday last week.

#8

Absolutely. I reckon bigger ratings and wouldve done more than changing rooms guaranteed. Anyway hopefully its a learning curb for them.

#9

A learning curve would be better than a curb.

#10

Wisely, the vast majority of Australians didn’t watch MAFS, they did something else.

#11

Yes it did - the combined S2 figure was 942,000 (Seven 600,000 + Fox 342,000) while the combined post-game got 1,063,000 (Seven 777,000 + Fox 286,000).

Yes, a lot of caveats need to be attached to combining those figures (eg; differing coding lengths/ratings measurements, etc). However, it indicates while the final performed worse than it did last year - it frankly could have been a lot worse considering how poorly this BBL season has performed generally

#12

The Foxtel rating is national and can’t be added to the Seven 5-city number. If the 5-city Foxtel number is used, the total is a lot less and lower than Celebrity.

#13

Not a great figure when you combine the figures of 7 and Foxtel for Big Bash.

Celebrity didn’t do too badly. Still wasn’t a fan of the finale being delayed.

MKR didn’t see a big jump for its forbidden word and completely insensitive marketing campaign. Absolutely shocking advertising. Should be ashamed of themselves. Never wanted to see the a collapse of a show but I do now.

#14

High daytime Big Bash final ratings failed to flow onto Seven’s primetime lineup. That’s the story of the whole cricket coverage really, it has failed to help Seven launch any new hits or boost old ones.

The Sunday Night figures are diabolical.

#15

Seven needs shows to target the male demographics that tend to watch cricket. Mixing MKR and cricket is like mixing oil and water. They need a new format to take MAFS head on rather than the persistent idea that something new will get crushed against MAFS.

EDIT: Something along the lines of Survivor and sport-style reality shows would work quite well, but Seven probably don’t want to risk any chances after Spartan became…spartan.

MAFS fan? Jokes but I agree. Hopefully by next decade MKR will rate 500K and MAFS 600K.

#16

MAFS and I’m a Celeb aren’t primarily ‘male’ targeted shows are they? Both launched on networks that had cricket rights so I don’t agree that the problem is the dick appeal of Seven’s content.

#17

Well what do you think the problem is. Format fatigue? The ability that 10 and Nine can generate more buzz than Seven? Cricket ratings not doing as well as before?

#18

All that and complacency that comes with long periods of success.

#19

No I don’t watch Married. I did however watch episodes of MKR. I won’t be anymore. I found that totally insensitive.

#20

Yeah definitely not about the food anymore is it.
