Nine off to another good start to the week with a 5 point win and up 1 from last Sunday. Seven dropped 3, ABC got a 3 point boost. 10 suffered another reality launch fail with The Traitors managing just 257,000 to rank 10th for the night; 10 down 1 from last week.

The Block landed in first spot on the top 20, up 65k from the previous Sunday while 60 Minutes that followed was an easy post reality winner. Then Nine’s late news rounded out a comprehensive win.

Australia’s Got Talent’s second Sunday episode was down from the launch episode last week but up on last Monday’s result. Murder in the Goldfields that followed wasn’t competitive.

The premiere of Significant Others did well and gave ABC a boost while Spick and Specks had its best result in seven weeks.

Traitors was 10’s top show in total people and demos where it ranked 6th in 25-54 and 5th in 16-39.

The return of the Australian Moro GP stopped Foxtel’s listings and was a timeslot winner for 10 in the afternoon.

Oh no. That’s devastating for The Traitors. I really liked it and there’s nothing like it on TV at the moment. I’m hooked. Such a shame. I know they can’t just turn the lights out during The Block but it just looks like no show can launch well when it’s up against The Block.

Oh dear.

Not a great start, incredibly hard launching a new show at the back end of the year after another low rating show vacated the timeslot, a recent failure and up against the pointy end of The Block.

I probably would’ve waited until tonight to launch, give it space away from a room reveal and use the HYBPA lead-out to help the show.

10 not being rewarded for their efforts in trying to provide fresh alternatives for viewers.

Very bad start for The Traitors.

Murder in the Goldfields tied with 60 Minutes in Perth.

The Traitors was great but I had a feeling it might struggle. Hopefully it can gain momentum.

They should’ve launched straight into it last Monday off the back of The Amazing Race finale.

Ouch. The Traitors was a good show last night and 10 defy the trends to start fresh content but don’t get rewarded with poorly programming it against the block room reveal.

Another Beverley bomb

Dare I say it, but it wasn’t even a great episode of The Block last night. I plan to watch The Traiters encore this afternoon, hopefully others will do the same.

The Traitors had an awful debut. Its just typical of 10 at the moment. Really boring. Although the show is quite different to anything else on 10 at the moment the host was a boring choice - it lacked diversity and they went safe. They deserve these figures.

How did it lack diversity?

I saw lots of different ethnicity, age and sexuality. I thought it was very well cast in regards to diversity.

FTA will never be as strong as it was 10, 20 or 30 years ago, however well done to every station who tries something new. Some times it will work, other times it will fail, but at least they’re giving it a go.

The host choice is just another white male. 10 have a raft of hosts across their network that are of that description and it shows they aim to play safe. 10 was known to be edgy, different and exciting. They lack that now and that is why these shows keep failing.

The Challenge starts next month and is hosted by someone who identifies themselves with pronouns so it’s not like they aren’t trying.

True, but wasn’t The Challege original a Parmount + exclusive?

The Challenge has always be headed to FTA.

I thought he was a good fit for the role and did quite well. From what I’ve seen lately out of the three main channels Ch10 seems to be the best at embracing diversity.
