A narrow win for Nine on Sunday but with its lowest share in 5 weeks, just ahead of Seven that had its best Sunday in 5 weeks.

10 was a big improver, however, with its best Sunday since July while ABC had its highest Sunday share since June and for SBS, its best since July.

Celebrity MasterChef topped the entertainment shows ranking 4th for the night as 7News Spotlight narrowly outrated Parental Guidance that dropped to a season low.

Total Control was even with the season premiere. Sunday Project made the top 10 and top 5 of all key demos while later 60 Minutes was a timeslot winner.

Foxtel managed to get 16 entries out of its Supercar coverage. The T20 final got 86,000.

We will have to wait until tomorrow for the full breakdown of T20 World Cup final ratings.

Celebrity MasterChef had its first timeslot win with only two episodes to go, beating Parental Guidance in a minor upset.

While celebrity MasterChef took the timeslot and demos, Parental Guidance was hot on its heels in the demos. This kind of show may be perfect for the end of Nines year at the end of ratings.
Next year they could do a parents and teen focus etc.

Wow, those ratings are very low for a Sunday

Free to air just fell off a cliff last night… I’m assuming most went to the streaming services.

FTA viewers have turned off for the year.

It’s clear that FTA are only catering to a specific sector of the audience and by this time of the year the audience has been conditioned to turn off thanks to the contempt our FTA networks have treated them in the past.

It just feels like the Networks are only catering for an older audience over summer.

Or the lack of any audience over Summer (due to their own decisions) apart from sports and I’m a Celebrity in January.

In the UK and US they still premiere big shows over Summer even though in the latter the Fall season is their biggest period akin to the start of our ratings year.

Though I have to give some (if any) credit to our networks for continuing with some form of big show into November and December when in the past we used to fully shut up shop by late October. Celeb Masterchef, Bachelorette, Parental Guidance, Lego Christmas, Snackmasters, Mega Zoo S2 and (as bad as it is, at least Seven tried instead of stopping) Big Brother VIP.

I think there is also an element of viewers being exhausted from watching shows like The Block for 90 minutes a night and 4 nights a week. They are taking a welcome break to catch up on saved PVR programming and streaming services. So now they appreciate shows that don’t require such a time commitment.

The thing for me is that each show goes for roughly 90 minutes. Say you watch Parental Guidance, Big Brother and MasterChef that’s 4.5 hours of TV in one night and only 3 shows. You could watch pretty much nearly a whole Netflix show with a 6/8 episode season in that time. Or two movies.

This is only the beginning. FTA is dying.

I watched streaming from 6pm onwards last night.

No interest in FTA right now. I’ll watch HYBPA and Cheap Seats and a bit of news but that is all for the week.

There’s so much content on streaming that it is impossible to keep up with so I just chip away.

Just echoing what others have said - but wow, what a low rating Sunday night. Sundays used to be the biggest night of the ratings week. Not anymore.

Ten’s Masterchef was the winner at 7.30pm for Ten. Not much else for Ten worked.

Good seeing Seven and Nine have new content from 6pm until after midnight. A rarity these days. News worked for them. Spotlight and Parental Guidance did average numbers. But 60 Minutes for Nine did well for the timeslot.

ABC’s Total Control did okay. But wished it get better in overnight ratings.
