The footy lead in wasn’t enough to keep viewers on Seven News Melbourne. Nine News Adelaide not far off with the result’s of Seven.
Huge national audience for Seven’s Murder In The Outback, looks like all the advertising paid off?

Seven recorded the network’s second Sunday win of the 2020 survey thanks to Murder in the Outback that cracked the one million mark. The network won in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth while Nine won in Sydney and Melbourne.

On 10, MasterChef was down slightly but still a winner across the demos. The Voice dropped 60,000 from the previous Sunday but managed to make the top 5 in 25-54.

Seven’s movie Deadpool also did well, however 60 Minutes was the timeslot winner despite a 140k drop week-on-week. FBI Most Wanted on 10 was steady while Vera did very well for ABC.

Really shocked by the ratings for Murder in the Outback, given most comments on social media were negative towards the show. It grew from the news lead-in in Adelaide and retained most of the news audience in Perth.

Proof that the lead out from 7 News could have gone some way in helping Sunday Night to better figures (with more quality stories than ended up in the show of course too). Surprised to see those figures for Murder in the Outback.

Does this mean there is interest in True Crime again?

That is a pretty decent figure. Good move by Seven really

Great figures for Murder in the Outback. It wasn’t great but I did watch it. I was disappointed I would have to watch again next week when the previews looked like the documentary I had just watched. A lot of things were repeated for nearly a 2 hour documentary.

Well, it did pretty good for a movie re-run for these days and the best of this Sunday marathon, however it still dropped a huge 600k from its lead-in! I imagine though it did very well in the key demos in its timeslot and probably better than anything else they might’ve put there?

Too bad for Seven it will probably drop next week considering the reception on social media. Happy to be proven wrong though.

Perhaps this is something that Seven should do on Sundays on a regular basis. Hard news as opposed to the fluffy trash that Sunday Night was obsessed with.

The next 5 programs in the 25-54 demo were

  • 9News grows week-on-week audience with key demos and Total People

From 10

Network 10:

Don’t know that it ever went away. Netflix debuts a new ‘Crime of the week’ docuseries on a near weekly basis and a lot of them tend to go viral.

Of course! But we did see a drop off on some of the True crime programs that Nine and Seven were airing. Admittedly they were airing them later in the night, but with those figures last night do we think we can see Seven airing future ones in an earlier timeslot?

Probably depends on the case, as well as the production values etc.

Whilst Murder in the Outback rated much higher than BB in total viewers it seems that was all down to the 55+ audience as it was down on BB in all of the main demos.

It was down 61k on BB in the 18-49 demo and 65k down in 16-39s.

I know it was stated last week that the new Seven News Investigates/Spotlight series won’t have a fixed timeslot. However, reckon Seven should seriously think about 7pm Sunday being an ‘ideal’ place for them to air considering the success the network has had this year with news specials in that timeslot

Murder in the Outback, surpassingly won across all states.

It did not “surpassingly win across all states”, but rather, it had high figures nationally and did very well across most states.

The repeated parts was because they aired two parts back to back. It wouldn’t have been so obvious if they aired it over four weeks instead of two, etc.

Yeah I didn’t realise it. But it was a bit of a turn off. Felt very slow.

How many more times does it have to be said that social media comments do not reflect ratings achievements?
