Without last week’s cricket as competition The Block and AGT remain steady. Survivor, however, posts a 60k gain week-on-week. Big drop for Les Norton’s second episode.

Seven News Adelaide and Perth record their highest ratings for this survey so far. Plus Weekend Sunrise’s highest Sunday rating this year.

60 Minutes easily wins against Sunday Night.

Nine won the east coast and the demos. 10 ranked second in 16-39 thanks to a good performance in that demo by Survivor.

I don’t suppose I could politely ask for a special article at some stage today, particularly interested in Seven, Nine and 10’s station performances in each market, as there was a lot of differences, highs and lows?

—

Alien franchise not doing anywhere near as well as Predator has done on 7mate (more than once too), though did well in the key demos. 7mate’s share low for a Sunday night.

Helped by the close finish in the twilight AFL match between West Coast and Adelaide.

Best I can do today:
Nine won Sydney and Melbourne by +5% and Brisbane by 11%.
Seven won Adelaide by 12% and Perth by 15%.
10 performed best in Melbourne and worst in Adelaide and Perth.

Survivor has been fantastic for 10. Not providing huge total people figures but it really is competing well against The Block. 10 should probably think of doing 2 seasons next year rather than just moving it forward.

No way. That will kill the show. No Aussie reality show needs two season a year. The seasons and episodes are already too long as it is.

Fantastic is going a bit overboard. It’s doing well, but so it should considering the amount of money ten has poured into its promotions. I counted six promos during one episode of Bold and the Beautiful last week and five during a a repeat of My Life is Murder. I’ve never been barraged by a programme’s promos so desperately before by a main channel.

Survivor isn’t strong enough to be airing twice throughout the year. So far they’ve been lucky 7 hasn’t hasn’t provided much competition, but is now, so who knows how things will end up.

Plus I think The Block proved airing a reality show twice in a year is overkill and is the quickest way to kill a series.

Thank you for that. So pretty much Seven would’ve still been thumped by Nine if not for loyal Adelaide and Perth, Seven nearly beaten by 10 in a major city too

TBF they only have 3 programs to push, Survivor, Bachie and HYBPA.

You obviously never watched 7’s coverage of the tennis. Or 10’s coverage of The Big Bash.

No to Tennis, Yes to Big Bash. The MKR rules promos weren’t this bad and they were spaced out evenly, even if it didn’t feel like it. Also Big Bash had 30 second commercial breaks which were occupied by paying clients, so no they don’t compare.

I also didn’t bother to mention the obnoxious promos were ran ad naseum on both Bold & Peach, through Neighbours, Voyager or Cheers. Literally not one one programme did not air at least three Survivor commercials touting the showdown.

Pretty much the same story, every other day

Re spending on promos. I’d say Seven are spending more on radio advertising for AGT - all across the weekend plus again today - than it is costing 10 to run promos on its own channels.

How would you know you didn’t watch the tennis :stuck_out_tongue:

The MKR rules promos ran during the Big Bash innings break, common sense should tell you I was addressing that.

Though Seven has tended to in past years showcase their entire line up, which consists of more than two programmes, during that period. From memory Seven spread out their promos of Miss Fisher Modern Mysteries, that live baby birth thing, Home & Away, The Chase & MKR fairly evenly.

Not when I specifically said 7’s tennis coverage :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Apologies Turdall, I didn’t see Ten in front of Big Bash. Still those promos weren’t as bad either. You had two or three promos dedicated to the promo instead of an add break, usually I’m A Celeb, Hughsey crap, Neighbours, Goggle Box, Living Room, occasionally Gilly or someone would speculate on who would be going into the jungle and during the innings break you’d have a guest appearance by Amanda Keller or someone.

Yes they were in conjunction with the adds which lasted about a minute usually but Ten rotated their programme promos evenly as well and the in house promotions never felt too aggressive or too in your face. It never came across as relentless desperation either.

Personally, I haven’t seen one ad for Survivor Australia. But I don’t watch live tv. I have seen numerous amounts of billboards but I think that is a welcome change considering they didn’t put the same effort in for Masterchef - and that clearly backfired.

Seven’s promos may be good and they’ve done well over the best part of 20 years to market their new content and got the chocolates, with a start of year helping hand from the tennis. But are now suffering. It’s not all about promos, now in this environment more then ever, even radio.

Seven have also cut back in their promo department, haven’t produced seperate “next” promos (in the preceeding program) for a couple of years now, except for shows that air the same every night. They have to make multiple versions of different promos for at least 5 different channels for every night!

Survivor is too long and dragged out per episode, and 3 nights a week is overkill. Used to be a “sit down and watch” show for me, like the US version, but now I just don’t have the time and leave it on as background TV while doing other things around the house.

If I am ever a day behind in Survivor I have to avoid any of Ten’s channels to avoid seeing promos until I have watched Survivor. It is absolutely correct it is pushed in every ad break, in every show, on all 3 of their channels to the point of overload.

I was recently a few days behind and didn’t watch any of the Ten network at all until caught up.

At least the US version remains 42 minutes a week without ads, with only the finale and sometimes one other episode being longer.
