Studio 10 (2015-2020)

It’ll be interesting to see if she can string more than a couple of sentences together because whenever she is interviews she ironically seems to struggle with the English language. Could be good car crash television. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I do love this show but will not be watching the day Hanson is on,she makes my blood boil!

On a more happier note very happy Carotta will be on a few days next week.

Wasn’t going to watch since I have work (and even if I didn’t…), but even so it’s a bizarre decision given the circumstances of the past few days and her comments on autism, and the fact her whole party is basically corrupt.

Pretty shit.

I am also surprised they would have her on the show after her (somewhat truthful) comments regarding poor programming and management when the network went into administration.

Whenever Pauline Hanson, Mark Latham, Jacqui Lambie, Alan Jones, Jeff Kennett, Clive Palmer etc. are on the show, I’ll be switching over to TMS to avoid these ‘famous’ people.

I reckon it’s always worth hearing different voices on the panel… even if you don’t agree with them

Did the panel discuss her comments about students with autism this week? I missed it if they did.

Giving a voice to dangerously misinformed people, who have a track record of spouting dangerous shit about vaccines and autism, should not under any circumstances be given a mic.

Children die from preventable diseases because she amplifies those who “have questions” about vaccines.

Yes I’m not pleased at all that Pauline H is on the show. She is dangerous and shouldn’t be given a voice, even if she is a pollie

Well everyone is entitled to a view. Even though I don’t agree with her she has a right to voice an opinion. Freedom of speech. Whats wrong is the media is giving her a larger voice. Maybe they should learn to ignore and not publish her views.

I agree with Blackbox, just because they aren’t your personal views doesn’t mean they can’t be heard. It’s good that Studio 10 is having many different opinions on the show.

In terms of Paulines autism in schools stance, I am a teacher and can tell you that she had majority support in the staff room today. She meant well by the comments and only wanted what was best for the autistic students and teachers. That’s all I’m saying on it.

I don’t mean to sound snarky but if it’s about equal airtime then when are you going to get a radical Islamic terrorist on the show?

Because Pauline Hansons views are not illegal and she has never advocated the killing of innocent people? Might be why…

I realise it’s an extreme example but in both cases you are providing a platform for the promotion of hatred.

Can’t stand Hanson but it is a good opportunity for the other panelists to take her to task on some of her recent statements. It’s a discussion panel after all and she will provide plenty of discussion and a headline or five for sure.

There are plenty of low-end autistic and Aspergers kids who thrive in ordinary classrooms, and even benefit from the increased socialisation. I agree in instances where they’re impaired to the point of being disruptive to the learning environment, that they must be brought out of such an environment.

What Pauline said in Parliament was very divisive. She has also previously stated that vaccines could cause autism. This theory has been discredited time and time again but continues to permeate, which threatens to undermine herd immunity.

Not that this is a debate for this thread but I too was against her views on autism and the classroom. But discussing it with my partner mad eme realise it could have some substance. He was saying it was quite common in his last school for autistic children to put in a special class because they couldnt deal with children with behavioural problems.

I think her argument has substance. You would think that she advocated the killing of all autistic children going off the reaction.

as the father of a child with autism, I think there was some merit in what she was saying.

However, she is a sitting member of parliament and it makes sense to include her on the show… whatever her views… and whatever yours are.

It would be a pretty boring show if everyone shared one common view.

Speaking from experience, her statement does have substance but it was a sweeping generalisation. Some autistic children would definitely cope better in classrooms which can better meet their needs and be taught by teachers with specialised autism training. But many autistic children excel in mainstream classrooms.

Perhaps Studio10 will be a perfect opportunity for her to clarify her comments.
