Impressive they’re commissioning more Australian content. Good on them.

Ah so this is where the extra $2 - 5 bucks is going ( 5 assuming you are on a 4k plan)…

A good line-up coming to Stan in the next 12-18 months.
That means Nine has the FTA rights to Will and Grace as well.

Stan comedy No Activity will get a US adaptation. An 8-part series has been commissioned by CBS All Access for 2018, through Will Ferrell’s production company Gary Sanchez. It will also be shown here on Stan.

Wonder if the US version will be better.

Has anyone else on this site ever had trouble signing up to stan, I have tried and tried but there website will not cooperate ?

Swedish Dicks - two thumbs up from me, very funny!

Thing is soon as the showtime deal expires for Stan, CBS will move all that content across to All Access and provide ten with a competitive mult platform offering in the Australian market.

CBS will also bring to the table in future sports rights deals … free to air plus streaming platforms.

Adnews article says:

Stan chief executive Mike Sneesby tells AdNews the multi-year deal is “nowhere near its completion or exit negotiation point”.

“This has no impact or any change to our content agreement with CBS, including our Showtime deal," Sneesby says. "We will continue to have content output and the exclusive rights to the Showtime brand and trademark in Australia.”

TV Tonight updated their article:

Updated: Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said the relationship with CBS was strong and Stan would remain the home of Showtime in Australia.

“Our Showtime output deal is nowhere near the expiry date with years to run. It is certainly something that is not on the radar or near renegotiation period. The CBS component of our Showtime output deal also remains unchanged including content where we have exclusive rights,” he said.

“CBS is a powerhouse that will be great for the Free to Air industry. Through their diversified portfolio of Showtime and other content investments Stan has really backed a winner.”

An earlier report suggesting the deal would expire next year was incorrect.

Not necessarily. CBS All Access in the US does not automatically include Showtime content, but it is available as an add-on, as it is elsewhere too (e.g Hulu). Stan could probably still get Showtime content, possibly just not exclusively.

News Corp reports filming for the 8-part adaptation of Romper Stomper is close to completion.

It has been announced Patrick Brammall from the original Stan series will star in the US adaptation alongside Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live). Guest stars include Will Ferrell, Bridget Everett (Inside Amy Schumer), Darren Gilshenan, Amy Sedaris, and J.K. Simmons. It will premiere on CBS All Access on November 12.

Fairfax chief executive Greg Hywood said on this morning’s annual general meeting that Stan now has 800,000 subscribers.

Why such a big gap from US airing?
