I also watch rugby and grand slam tennis throughout the year

Don’t agree that it’s good value. I would like the option of paying for sport as a stand alone option. Only interested in EPL and Champions League etc. Stan does have some good programs but I’d like to choose when I watch (months) as I do with other streamers.

$30 p/m is better than paying $45 or $50 p/m. In the UK you would need to pay well over $100 p/m for the same football content.

Australian report

Nine would not disclose how much it paid for the six-year extension to its English Premier League deal but The Australian understands it spent a total of about $810m, or roughly $135m per season.

“There was no official tender process,” said one source with knowledge of the contract. “(Stan) just lobbed a renewal bid two years early.

“There wasn’t any competitive tension in the bidding process. Nine has clearly overpaid for the rights. The market wasn’t saying the EPL is worth that much,” said the source.

Nine’s streaming and broadcast division managing director, Amanda Laing said the EPL was the “most popular league in the world, and on that basis (the rights deal) makes really good sense”

Looks like Stan is experimenting making some sports events available to all subscribers rather than just those who pay extra for Stan Sport. Noticed this when accessing the Tottenham v Aston Villa PL game tonight:
