European Qualifiers has been added to Stan’s football portfolio. They’d be interested in Bundesliga and Bundesliga-Frauen with Mike Sneesby being the CEO of MBC which owns Bundesliga rights in MENA
Not sure their old CEO being the boss of another rightsholder would have the slightest bit to do with anything
I assume that’s for the remainder of the qualifying matches for next year’s World Cup. Stan will have to bid again if it wants to broadcast the European qualifiers for the 2030 tournament.

Europe has historically been the greatest footballing continent, winning 12 FIFA World Cups in total, with footballing juggernauts Germany (4), Italy (4), France (2), England (1) and Spain (1) all enjoying success at the tournament. Some of the biggest names in global football will feature as they strive for qualification, including Portugal megastar Cristiano Ronaldo, French maestro Kylian Mbappé, England phenom Jude Bellingham, Norwegian leading scorer Erling Haaland and Spain’s teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal.
The exciting format sees 48 national teams divided into 12 groups of four, playing home and away fixtures against each opposition. The 12 group winners will earn automatic qualification for the World Cup, while the remaining nations will enter the play-off stage for their chance to secure a spot in the tournament.
This structure brings guaranteed fireworks and drama, as the pressures of expectation weigh upon the shoulders of the major footballing nations, with even the mighty Italy having infamously missed the last two FIFA World Cups after failing to qualify.

Combined with the Premier League, the Women’s Super League and the UEFA Champions League, which also kicks off this month, Stan Sport is the only place to see the biggest stars in the biggest games. ANGE MAKES HIS PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN. ARSENAL V FOREST THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 LIVE & EXCLUSIVE IN 4K ON STAN SPORT FROM 8:30PM AEST.
The anticipation is sky-high as one of Australia’s most successful football coaches makes his Premier League return to lead Nottingham Forest. The Australian tactician faces no easy start, with his first assignment taking him to North London for a clash against third-placed Arsenal, a stern test of his new side’s resolve and an early measure of how quickly Forest can adapt to his style.
Watch Arsenal v Forest this Saturday, September 13 live & exclusive in 4K on Stan Sport from 8:30PM AEST.
Clearly a match that would have been screened on Channel 9 had NRL had a pre-finals bye week. (Probably this would be chosen regardless of which timeslot it falls into.)
Then again, 9Go isn’t a thing, so it doesn’t matter, right?
No. They made it clear. The first 3 Saturday nights purely as a promotional tool for Stan Sport.
Yes but I feel they would have aired this match given the Aussie connection and significance. But they can’t because of NRL
I was gonna say something to this effect but you’ve articulated it more concisely. So well done.
It’s no different to the linear showing of a doubles tennis final if it has an Aussie pair in it.
So.. They are not going to be showing one match per round anymore?
No, not for the rest of the rights deal. Ever.
The international break last week was a convenient excuse to stop.
Fulham v Leeds United is listed for 9go! Midday on Saturday 20 of September. So the week delay match on GO might remain.
Wolves v Everton was on delay last Weekend during the day on 9Go so there’s still some EPL content being shown on FTA, just not the live early Saturday games any longer.
Stan Sport not having a great night tonight with a lot of buffering issues with the Nottingham Forest Vs Arsenal game with Ange Postecoglou return to the Premier League.
no issues at my end
Probably on your end?
Well if you’re watching from the US that’ll be your problem ![]()
The 4k feed isn’t that great…
EDIT: Fixed now. Its actually pretty good. hahaha.
Zero issues on the 4k feed here.
