Mayo broke its legendary 75-year drought this morning in the GAA Football championship. Legend said that there was a curse in 1951 (their last championship win) which prevented them winning the Sam Maguire Cup ever again or until at least every member of its 1951 winning team has died.
The last survivor of their 1951-winning team died in 2023, thus breaking the curse this year.

Sydney Kings star Xavier Cooks will be free to play the start of the NBL season, with his one-month period of ineligibility concluding last month.
Cooks was issued with the sanction by Basketball Australia, in accordance with the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy, following the result of a doping control test, where tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) was detected in his system.
The one-time NBL MVP winner apologised to his teammates and Kings fans in a statement through on Tuesday afternoon.

Australia’s first night at the World Athletics U20 Championships ended with a bronze medal and a national record for the 4 x 400m relay team of Dylan Ruming (NSW, Kate Lynch) 16, Xanthee Watts (QLD, Clinton Louis Watts), Fred Hamblin (Rob Marks and Ben Cavan), 18 and Charlotte McAuliffe (SA, Nik Hagicostas), 19, in Eugene, United States.
The bronze was won with a time of 3.18.45, with USA winning with a Championships Record and Czechia coming in second.
