Sports That Don’t Have Or Need A Thread

Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre will host the 2026 SwimGP this November, and the the Australian Short Course Championships in 2028.

Someone somewhere has a lack of oversight, I’d assume.

Peter V’landys will step down as Racing NSW CEO when his period of long service leave ends in November, ahead of his impending appointment as NRL executive chairman.

Team USA has defended the Presidents Cup, as Team International let a golden opportunity slip by at the tournament in Medinah, Illinois. Team International led 10.5 to 7.5 after the first three days, but the home side claimed 9 of the 12 singles matches on Sunday (Internationals won two, while one match was tied) to win 17-13 overall.

Clark became the first player ever to post 25 points and 15 assists in a single game, finishing with 27 and 15 in Indiana’s 99-89 win over the Aces.

This year’s Stawell Gift winner Olufemi Komolafe has been stripped of the title after testing positive to an illegal substance found in his ADHD medication.

Believe it or not, Oilers won this game 9-7.

An EPIC upset late Friday night, which was caused by what might be the worst timeout decision ever.

Valkyries win 77-73 to advance to the WNBA semifinals.

For context (because we are still learning that random screenshots are basically meaningless), that would be the Golden State Valkyries and this was the deciding Game 3. A 16 point comeback, while impressive, also isn’t what it used to be, especially with as many game minutes on the clock (WNBA play 10-minute quarters).

More notable about these two victories was how they were broadcast - apparently there’s no official live broadcast for all tennis matches in this Asian Games. ELTA TV (Taiwan) and HoyTV (Hong Kong) arranged the broadcasts featuring local athletes themselves, occasionally in short notice too as the match progressed.

ELTA carried the matches in a single-camera operation, done by temporarily-assigned reporters, with no score graphics. Hoy was sightly better with two cameras, custom playback sequence and a scoreboard, despite their usual association with a tighter budget.
