Southern Cross Austereo (Regional)

Still happens these days re 2AD at Armidale and their refusal to pay SWM rent at Little Duval so they are building their own site instead!

The old transmitter site was Hit & Triple M was at Sunny Cliffs, never been out that way so I couldn’t tell you If the tower is still standing & I go up to Mildura quite often.

Most of the Triple M station’s In WA are on the AM band so sell them Including Mildura which is FM the Hit brand seems to be more lucrative & they would still have a good Triple M Presence In their other markets across Australia, Divesting 17 commercial radio licences is nothing for Southern Cross/7 West Media In terms of coverage they still have a bigger footprint when It comes to coverage. Living In Ouyen & being able to pick up Mildura radio I think this is a breath of fresh air, having 3 radio stations owned by 3 different licensees It should be like this In other large markets In Australia.

Seems like Rohan Edwards will be replacing Ducko on Hit NSW breakfast. Socials are starting to be updated.

Where is he from?

Was recently anchoring Abbey Chatfield’s show, I think he’s been in radio wasteland since that was canned.

Rohan posted on his Instagram the other day that he would host Hit NSW breakfast with Jess Farchione.

Looks like MMM Mackay has borrowed ARN’s AI generator.

Jesus, this AI stuff is absolute crap.

I actually think that looks pretty good.

The thing that does my head in was when I was working there, everyone single station HAD to use the network mandated colours and templates. Bar none. Go rogue and your arse was handed to you on a a plate.

You can clearly tell Promotions staff are thin on the ground now.

Cheaper than using real people, but also means you run the risk of losing that network style since AI can be a bit random. But I guess that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

American looking AI rubbish

That’s assuming there’s any actually there.

Has the Regional Triple M changed music formats? I am at a worksite in Gladstone and everyone was complaining about the music on Triple M this morning. Sounds like they have their Spotify playlist on.

I think your workmates might’ve become accustomed to the more rock-oriented countdown running last week?

It’s back to the regional female friendly list and not the rock log that was on over Christmas for several weeks.

It’s actually not too bad a playlist. I just don’t know why they don’t throw the odd new song in there, even 1 in 10. The likes of Teddy Swims would work well.
