That sounds like the old variety shows from 1960s and 1970s. Not sure that would be popular in 2026.
I thought Takeaway was alright and I think Julia is good for that type of show. From memory, I think the timeslot was problematic and too close too I’m a Celeb…
It felt too safe and ‘family’ for 10 IMO. I’d much prefer Thank God
How is “Thank God You’re Here” less family and not safe? To me they’re pitched at the same audience.
Well Thank God has more variety and the humour is less haha Callum is dumb and Joel doesn’t like sport…
I’m not saying this was bad. I just found it a bit meh.
We can have a show where Jenna Martin reviews Meryl Streep’s movies.
I thought this was really enjoyable. It’s the type of shows I would like to see more of.
Monday 5 October
Tonight, comedian and broadcaster Nick Cody and his dad Geoff pit their brains against actor Felix Cameron (Boy Swallows Universe) and mum Sharni, plus Allegra Overton and her newsreader mum, Jessica Rowe.
Monday, 12 October, 7:30 pm
Tonight, TV and radio presenter Amanda Keller and son Jack do battle with mullet sporting comedian Brett Blake and his non mullet sporting dad Charles, plus podcaster Abbie Chatfield, winner of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!, and her mum Laura.

Brilliant episode tonight.
I thought that guessing the animals used in AFL teams would be up Nick Cody’s alley. Instead he missed out on two teams: Tigers and Kangaroos.
Nick’s misses in the AFL animals category round was costly as he and his father eventually lost to Jessica Rowe and Allegra Overton by just $50. Jess and Allegra then managed to double their prizemoney by correctly guessing five types of penguins, raising $6900 for Beyond Blue.
Thanks corrected
Episode 2 tonight but on 10 Play it’s listed as Episode 5
Looks like 10 is showing the ten episodes in random order following episode one last week.
Where does this and Sam Pang go when BB starts?
Good question.
My solution is to show Big Brother at 7pm, Parents Evening at 8pm and Sam Pang Tonight at 9pm.
Big Brother used to br 30 minutes at 7pm when it first started. They could go back to doing that.
Shaun Micallef was in the ABC Southbank studio this afternoon, appearing on ABC Melbourne Afternoons to talk about his new book Matthew Flinders, as well as Parents’ Evening. At the end of the chat, presenter Brigitte Duclos said that Parents’ Evening is on the ABC (instead of 10) but Shaun did not correct her.
Hopefully the audio will be on ABC Listen or ABC Melbourne website soon.
I assume there are only a handful of episodes, or if there are more they will hold them back for filler somewhere else in the schedule early next year.
Is anyone else finding this show increasingly difficult to watch as the weeks go on? I want to like it but the format has become repetitive very quickly and the pacing is painfully slow. Most sections are just one team answering one topic, followed by constant score checks. The couple faster paced rounds are so much better than the rest of the show and really highlight what it could be.
It needs more variety in games and a better overall pace. As it stands, it relies too heavily on having big personalities to keep things entertaining. Some weeks like tonight, it feels very flat.
11 episodes were commissioned.
