Looks like Channel 17 to me!
Bout bloody time SCA finally re-entered the TV business of sorts, the current Seven ownership situation in Hobart e.g is a bit of a shitshow at the moment, with ad breaks there being filled with almost entirely informercials and CSAs at times. They’re kinda like the new 10 Central. Hopefully that changes when SWM and SCA merge.
I’d like to see a full return to having Hit and Triple M TV ads (free spots) on-air in Hobart during ad breaks. And certainly have Salamanca Fresh’s ads back on-air full-time, they were a true stable of ad breaks in Hobart. I would hope advertising rates become so affordable again that advertisers who have deserted TNT Hobart return.
Sometimes I think we need a facepalm reaction emoji…
Anyhoo will be interesting to see what regulatory hurdles the merger will have to jump through.
what do you mean “finally”? the ink is barely dried on the contract to sell off its TV outlets to Seven and Ten?
Joy, more people losing work and further concentration in ownership. Sad is all I can say.
Will this pass the Voices test in many regional markets?
And if everyone remembers the slash and burn mentality of Southern Cross, former Capital, NRTV and QTV staff will tell you what is left of Seven once SCA gets their hands on them will not be pretty with massive cutbacks and layoffs aplenty!
Time for the 2 Station Per Market Rule in all Cities Abolished.
One thing’s for certain - expect free TV ad spots for Hit and Triple M to start swarming ad breaks again in Hobart, and for the first time in markets where a Seven Network TV station and at least a Hit or Triple M radio station (or both) exists.
I would also expect that in markets without a SCA radio station, LiSTNR ads will start screening during ad breaks on Channel 7. Especially in ex-Prime markets like Ballarat and Wollongong.
Where will the HQ be based ?
SCA are based in Melbourne and SWM are based in Sydney.
Why are you so interested about if there is or isnt Listnr and Hit ads on the exSCA tv stations? ![]()
LOL
Actually, Seven Network is headquartered in Sydney, but Seven West Media (the company) is based in Perth.
I cant see this new arrangement being based in Perth.
Well, should we expect the unexpected?
Industry sources have told Mediaweek the proposed merger between Seven West Media (SWM) and Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) is far from a closed deal, with speculation Nine Entertainment Co. could still step in.
“This deal doesn’t stop Nine from making a play at all,” an insider told Mediaweek. “But they need come in with a cash bid before the transaction is complete.”
The ownership cap rule will come into play if such a bid is made.

If I was Nine I’d be giving Nova and/or ARN a call to sound them out
Could this mean that Sky News Regional may be available nationally via Seven?
why would it?
Surely it will. Time for SNR to be dumped from Ten. Ten could better use their spectrum for Nickelodeon in markets currently without said station.
All the markets that have SNR (except NNSW which will probably get it soon) already have Nick?
You seem to be a little confused. What does this deal have to do with Sky News regional?
