Big changes in Adelaide and Perth as well.

Week 43

Seven Melbourne had only its fourth win of the year in Melbourne.

Evry bulletin rated lower expect for Nine Brisbane that dominated its market and was up a huge 31%. Seven News in Sydney and Adelaide were down the most from last year.

Week 44

Nine pulled back ahead in Melbourne where Seven is down 21% - Also a big drop in Adelaide.

News numbers continue to be higher this month in Brisbane. Nine continuing to improve in Perth.

Week 45

There was a lot of disruption to lead-ins this week including the US election and racing. Nine was very close in broadcast TV numbers and would be ahead with BVOD added in. The comparison to last year shows Nine continuing to do better than Seven in all markets.

Week 46

Low ratings in Sydney continue for both bulletins with Seven taking a narrow lead in broadcast TV numbers though Nine is ahead on Total TV. Amazingly, Nine Brisbane outperforms Nine Sydney.

Elsewhere Nine ahead of Seven in Melbourne and Brisbane and closing the gap significantly compared to this week last year in Adelaide and Perth.

Week 47

Some very poor result for Seven in some markets with Brisbane and Adelaide recording their lowest ratings of the year so far. Adelaide down by a massive amount in Adelaide that has been consistent in recent weeks. Looks like a lot of these changes are not having the desired impact on ratings.

Week 48

Seven News down in all markets and easily beaten with Nine ahead on every day.

Nine News in Brisbane is +10,000 viewers more popular than Seven’s Sydney bulletin that was back to a double header this week. In Brisbane, having dropped to a 2024 low last week, the bulletin went even lower in week 48 with some of its lowest OzTAM ratings in recent years. Adelaide and Perth both down by 15%.

Nine News has a big win in the first out of survey week. This week last year, Seven won by 100,000. A 22 point turn around - Nine up 10% and Seven down 12%. Results particularly bad for Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.

Week 50

Nine again number one by a higher margin than last week. Seven Sydney with another -15% year-on-year result while Seven Adelaide was down 30%.

Week 51

The news turnaround continues with Nine asserting itself as the metro number one news this month; winning all days by small margins.

However, without a rain interrupted test match, the results could have been different.

Week 3

In 2 weeks, will be able to give national year-on year comparisons. In the 5- city market Nine did comparatively better for this week when it lost all markets in 2024.

National

Nine was up by a significant 82,000 on the previous week while Seven improved by 18,000and 10 by 9,000. ABC lost 15,000 from week 3.

Per market

This is the Total TV landscape, so includes BVOD.

Compared to Week 4 of 2024, we still hadn’t switched over to the new system. This comparison is to the Broadcast ratings (excluding BVOD). The big increases for 10’s east coast markets are notable.

Week 5

National

Nine closed the gap on Seven by 60,000 from the previous week. 10 was down 13,000 while ABC was up 35,000.

Compared to the same week of 2024, all services were higher with 10 up by 20% and streaming doing much better.

Note that per market results were not fully available this week of 2024.

Week 6

Nine News’ average audience was up by 19,000 from the week before as Seven’s bulletin dropped by 12,000 and ABC’s by 5,600. 10’s was down 500.

Compared to week 6 of 2024, all bulletins rated higher across all measures. 10 News First was notable for being 20% higher on average while BVOD viewing for the commercial bulletins was significantly higher.

Week 7

Nine improve by 18,000 from the previous week. ABC was also up slightly while Seven and (by 7,000) and 10 (by 5,000) were slightly lower.

Compared to week 7 of 2024, all bulletins rated higher across all measures with BVOD the standout.

Per market results (excl Friday) saw Nine ahead in the 5-city market despite a big win for Seven nationally.

Comparison are available for Seven and Nine to last year. However, note that this year the BVOD figures are included so theoretically all bulletins should be higher so a disappointing result for Seven in the Brisbane market.

Week 8

Nine’s upward trajectory continued this week in news, up 10,000 form the previous week. ABC was 14,000 higher as well while 10 was down 28,000 and Seven dropped by 48,000.

Compared to week 8 of 2024, BVOD results were again a standout. Nine was up 14% with ABC and 10 also improved.

Per market results (excl Friday) saw Nine ahead in the 5-city market by a significant 70,000 and along the east coast. Nine is opening up a big lead in Sydney.

Comparisons are available for Seven and Nine and you will remember this year’s numbers included BVOD so all bulletins should be higher to some extent. A 2% rise for Seven is really going backwards while Nine is up an impressive 19% including by 28% in Perth.
