to make with bruce gorden one big regional network, combining with prime7, win tv and possbly sca
He wants to be like Bruce, but perhaps in his case eventually get Seven West Media to buy him out instead of Nine?
Certainly interesting if he’s hoping to expand or beef up news bulletins in areas where both Prime and ACM have a footing.
A combined Canberra Times/Prime7 News bulletin could shake up dinosaur WIN Canberra News for example. Same in Wollongong and Newcastle. Would be well regarded with the soon to close Nine News Local.
Watermark and rings back on top corner, came back after midday movie.
Combining news operations will give both companies the ability to have more resources for less money. It allows them to increase their value while saving costs and providing better content.
that would also make for a Ballarat courier and the ararat advertiser /prime7 news bulletin. which would then give win news western vic a run for its money as well
With or without ACM resources, I’ll believe that Prime7 Local News will expand into markets currently without full bulletins when I see press releases or some other credible information.
At the moment, I reckon both them & WIN would be happy to avoid stepping on each others toes by not competing against each other with a full bulletin in any market.
thats my understanding that WIN and PRIME made an agreement back in 2019 that moving forward they would not put in competing local news services in order to save LOCAL voices.
You gotta wonder why Prime, WIN and Newcastle Herald try to join forces and compete against NBN Newcastle in their own back yard.
5.30 Newcastle Herald on Prime7 and 6.00 Newcastle Herald on WIN.
It’s way too out there for Australian TV to think outside the box.
Perhaps because Nine didn’t join their dubious cartel?
Competitors agreeing to not compete sounds illegal, something the ACCC has gone after in other industries.
If television news in regional Australia is to not only survive but potentially thrive in the future, what really needs to happen is the major metropolitan networks owning the regional stations in all four aggregated regional markets.
Prime/ACM, WIN and SCA being allowed to consolidate their ownership into one mega regional TV company (which I suspect is what these companies are pushing for as part of the current “Save Our Voices” campaign) isn’t in the interests of consumers IMO.
Is regional Australia able to sustain three or four local TV news services as per the metro markets? Probably not. But at the absolute minimum there should be two - certainly in the more populated regional centres like Canberra, Newcastle/Hunter, Wollongong/Illawarra, etc.
New Olympics program super spotted on 7mate to coincide with new Olympics watermarks:
prime7 has now gone back to there normal watermark
Did they have the Olympic one at all tonight?
prime7 two and prime7mate still has the olympic watermarks
im not to sure sorry i only just turned it on after you posed
Interesting how Prime mix their background/shade colours on the PRGs, metro stick with always blue for 7mate, always purple for 7flix, etc
Not really a fan of it if the colours clash like in these ones.
GWN7 also went back to the normal watermark/PRG after Big Brother. Perhaps the Olympics version will only be seen during early evening programming?
