The rebrand probably won’t arrive until the new year maybe
Good point.
Came across some very sad looking (and 5 years outdated) advertising in Alice Springs this week ![]()
Wasn’t able to see if their actual offices are still on Bath Street
I can’t believe I missed all the posts about the bulletin going on 7plus and everything! I’ve been checking it regularly and hadn’t seen them however, time to bring on the relaunch lights. Just saw in tomorrow’s paper that Sunday night has the new listing of 7News Tasmania at 6pm!
Forget the elections and the Tassie Devils, this will be what puts the Apple Isle on the map ![]()
Interesting, just checked yesterday’s paper and it was still the old name but then today’s was the new one in the paper as you pointed out for online. Bummer, I thought I was onto something! I’m assuming there wasn’t a relaunch tonight but I was out so didn’t see anything but I figured somebody would have noticed if it had!
It appears 7Tas have finally left Youtube as well. Their last upload was Monday.
As expected. No need to keep uploading there now that it’s in the hands of Seven. This was mainly only being done when it was still owned by SCA, but with Seven taking the reins there’s now no need. Disappointing for the regular subscribers on YouTube but it’s expected.
In Seven’s case, why upload your bulletins to YouTube when you can just have viewers streaming it on 7plus. Easy. It’s happened with the Regional NSW/WA ex-Prime bulletins, though their uploads on YouTube under Seven’s ownership survived much longer than the SCA Tasmania instalments, their last uploads being on 1st December 2023.
For historical reference (for those just joining needing a recap), Seven acquired PRIME/GWN in December 2021 (acquisition completed on 31st December of that year) and in June/July 2022 they rebranded PRIME7 and GWN7 (including their local news bulletins carrying said names) to generic Seven (and 7NEWS) branding.
Putting up the new name in the TV guides already yet they still market themselves in news updates and bulletins as Nightly News 7 Tasmania. Simply put, as of right now they’re still stuck in the SCA days. When will that end?
I should also add on I don’t know why they even bothered to rename their YouTube presence to 7NEWS Tasmania if they knew they were going to abandon their platform? Knowing this they should’ve left their YT channel as the original name, Nightly News 7 Tasmania. Trapped in the past, no new uploads using the 7NEWS Tasmania name.
It’s a sign they’re getting ready to relaunch themselves under the new name 7NEWS Tasmania. The TV guides may have been updated now to reflect the new names but one can assume this Sunday is relaunch day. The guides were probably updated early knowing a rebrand is on the way. It’s perhaps an indication. We’ll know if this is true or not come Sunday. If the rebrand indeed does happen watch our hamsters go into overdrive.
You know what they say about the word ‘assume’?
That’s a lot of words to say absolutely nothing
Pretty clear a relaunch is imminent. Only a matter of time.
Good to finally see that the name is changing. Nightly News > 7 Tasmania was a shocker.
I knew they’d use Wine Glass Bay!
Assume this will mean the end of the YouTube montages?
Nightly News > 7 Spencer Gulf was worse, it wasn’t even nightly.
All Alice Springs will see is noodle updates from 7. It won’t get a proper news bulletin and I believe it also applies to Darwin as well as regional South Australia and broken hill
Good point.
And it also forgot that Broken Hill exists ![]()
Michael mentioned at the end of last night’s bulletin that Kim will be back in the chair tonight.
It’s not even just regional news though, it’s a composite bulletin. Do they not know their own product after all these years?
