You have to wonder if this is a recycled rumour, or if there is truth to it, and it’s actually about to happen. She was only on a one year contract with Today.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is Peter Mitchell’s last year, so Mike and Sarah on weeknights next year.
Surely they wouldn’t have a Mitch and Sarah double header - nearly 30 years apart in age.

I’d move him to weekends and bring in some fresh blood like Nine did. Sarah would be great solo or with Mike.
Bec is good on sports and doing AFL coverage. Best of both worlds.

My point is that Mitch and Sarah’s on-air personalities couldn’t be more different. Sarah is vibrant and bubbly, Mitch isn’t.
Mal and Helen had good chemistry. I just can’t imagine Mitch working well in a double header.

I reckon this Sarah thing will happen. It’s been reported too much for it to just be a rumour. I’d say pair her up with Mike, and Karina will stay on weekends (maybe pair her up with Blake Johnson?).
Or her talent manager is spreading rumours to try and sweeten the deal in contract negotiations with Nine??
Do you think it will go down well with Bec? It was reportedly frosty between Bec and Jacqui after a similar thing happened (Bec would be on the receiving end this time). I get what you are saying but it would be hard to argue that Bec doesn’t deserve this and wouldn’t do a good job.
Mal Walden and Helen Kapalos on Ten back in the day were close to 30 years apart and they seemed to get on well - so as long as there’s chemistry between the presenters I don’t think age difference between them is a defining factor.
Besides, Mitch is only my mum’s age so I suspect he’ll be around for awhile yet. There’s plenty of people older than that still going in this business.
Mitch does not do well partnered with anyone, let alone on his own.
Would be good to see him off this year after 25 long years at 6pm, having only won the ratings in a handful of those years.
