Seven News Presenters and Reporters

Journos and reporters are all so dramatic with their ‘news’ and ‘personal’ updates.

A deliberate move to keep Sonia Marinelli in the role, I wonder?

I always thought Blake did an awesome job when he was presenting weekends and 4:30 in Perth.

That was ages ago. He has plenty of experience. What is the problem?

Theres no problem, i just dont think he has the profile or personality of who he is replacing.

If you have a look at Mike, Bec in Melbourne, Ang and Musher in Sydney… Blake is not in the same league. And those people had the profile when they started the role, they didnt build their profile in the weekend chair.

He might start to be in their league in 10 years, but not now.

You don’t have to agree.

How do you get a profile? From being a foreign correspondent.

Thats one option. The ones ive mentioned have national profiles.

Bec got it with a mix of sunrise, footy show, ninja warrior etc.
Musher got it through 60 minutes.
Mike got it as a foriegn correspondent.
Ange got it with a mix of foriegn correspondent and national news/Sunrise.

My point is blake might be on his way there, but he isnt there yet.

Where do you do it then?

How else do you think Peter Mitchell, Peter Hitcher, Jennifer Keyte, Mike Amor, Alicia Loxley, Rebecca Madden along with their Sydney counterparts got their current positions?

Blake is well known in Melbourne these days. He has the profile and experience to sit within the weekend chair (if need be).

Saturday 4 March and Sunday 5 March -
Andrew McCormack presenting sport in Melbourne this weekend.

I think he and Natalie Yoannidis will share weekend sport duties while Abbey Gelmi is on maternity leave.

However, according to the Herald Sun’s Media Street column, Natalie has left Seven and will be joining Nine in the coming weeks. It was mentioned that she was pencilled in to cover Abbey’s maternity leave, but obviously that has now changed.

Already? Must be a good offer over at 9.

Laura Spurway (7 News sport reporter / producer in Melbourne) recently returned from maternity leave - she filed a story last week and tonight - so perhaps Natalie was only a casual so that makes sense if she accepted a full-time job somewhere else.
