Angie Asimus appears to be presenting the weather from the Sydney Radiothon at Westmead Hospital for the 6PM news.
Something else that was a bit different was Michael throwing over to the new network finance reporter Gemma Acton for her to introduce a report on milk prices. She appeared to be live and standing in front of one of the screens in the studio but I’m not sure which one. This may have been able to occur since Angie is out of the studio presenting weather at the Radiothon as I mentioned above.
Well it just seemed like a logical explanation since it’s a bit too much of a coincidence that this happens for the first time on the same day that the weather presenter is doing an OB in Sydney for the first time in ages don’t you think?
They don’t do it regularly but this certainly isn’t the first time they’ve had a reporter in the studio presenting from the weather plasma. Weather OB has absolutely nothing to do with it (why would it?).
I know they have done something like this before, but that is usually using the screen they have the weather presenter start and end the segment with when they controversially swap to being in front of a green screen for the middle part of it; the one off to the side of the news desk. This was not using this screen, if you look at a video of what I’m talking about. There were no shots of Michael & Gemma together in a similar fashion to what you see in weather with the weather presenter. Thus she must have been using a green screen, presumably the same one they use for weather which they could use live since Angie was elsewhere presenting weather.
Plus I should have mentioned that this occurred in that segment right after sport where the special consumer/finance report for the night is which would have been right before the weather block, hence it may be a bit hard to have the screen ready for both. But you don’t have to constantly criticise me when I give an explanation as to why something occurs. It’s just that I find it weird that these two things happen on the same night, you can’t blame me for maybe trying to read more into it.
Firstly, it would help if you provided a bit more detail upfront rather than posting something vague and then getting defensive when we misunderstand what you are describing and so respond based on limited information.

Yes, it does look like they’ve used the green screen but I don’t see anything to suggest that it was done live.
Did the same story air in any other parts of the country?
There is some anxiety at Seven News, Martin Place, with reporter Ryan Phelan having gone public with his romance with former high class Sydney escort Samantha Goff.
A similar thing happened tonight; this time she actually joined Mark at the news desk in the sports presenter position to introduce the story, only a minute or so before Mel had to scoot into the same position for sport…
There will be someone else presenting the national morning news tomorrow morning before the Australian Open golf starts since Ann just said at the end of Sydney’s 4PM news that she will be back Monday. It will likely be Jodie Speers, staying on from the Early News that morning.
I think Ann will still be on the Morning News. She just meant to her Sydney viewers on the Arvo news, she will be back on Monday (tomorrow is Golf as you say and she doesn’t work Fridays).
I don’t think so. Normally when she says goodbye until next week at the end of the 4PM news, she is referring to all news that she is involved in on any day. Plus I don’t think there would be any point her coming in for one half hour bulletin tomorrow and I don’t think she has on Australian Open golf days in the past. We shall see if my prediction is true tomorrow morning but I’m pretty sure it will be.
Proving my point from yesterday exactly. I’m surprised Angela’s still presenting news though as a fill in; I thought she shifted more to focus on Sunday Night & less on Seven News including presenting roles so I didn’t think we would still be seeing her presenting as a fill in today. I was totally expecting Jodie Speers…
I think we will see a lot of Angela in December /January filling in on News bulletins, Sunrise/ Weekend Sunrise, The Morning Show and The Daily Edition.
