Seven News Content and Appearance

Anyone else find it odd that Adelaide’s morning news is called “Early Edition” I thought that is usually what they call the afternoon bulletin?

Each to their own I guess.

They call their 5pm weekend bulletin Early Edition as well

Especially when the title card says 7 News Mornings.

I’m thinking that Seven have noticed an increase in viewers at 6pm looking for the new set - all coming from Media Spy so are going to keep it going for as long as they can

Meanwhile this what’s on tonight’s “news” according to their promo

I noticed today, 9’s morning news says “morning” … as bad as 7’s “mornings”

Is that the normal live shot behind them?

Adelaide has always been all over the shop with titles.
The 4pm bulletin is called 7 News Afternoons, 7’s Afternoon News or 4PM News all within the space of a few minutes.

And yes they ear 7 News Early at 5am weekday and 7 News Early Edition at 5pm weekends.

It’s a mess.

Most TV studio’s used to have a carpenter on staff who did the sets - now there is only a news set in most studio’s with all the other production canned(and the carpenter sacked).

Whatever is happening at 7 Brisbane news set we don’t know but a chroma key would more than suffice for most news bulletins like it often was in the old days.

I would love to know what happens when the super video wall gets a fault in these places?

Just swap out the panel?

Sure but that may not be able to get it replaced straight away. Personally I don’t like the presentation style like when Ally on ACA the video of the interviewee just appears on the video screen out of no where there is no outline to indicate that there is a screen there. Plus on Seven they interview people using a virtual screen it looks odd. Not to mention depending on your TV size the text for the weather temperatures can be difficult to read as they rarely have a full screen shot without the presenter well at least in Sydney. Also during Sunrise during finance they show a graphic showing the commodity prices ie Gold, oil etc instead of showing a full screen graphic they show the graphics on the video wall and have the camera moving around which is distracting and unnecessary just show it as a full screen. Video walls are gimmicks very costly gimmicks. Green Screens have been uses for years are much cheaper and can be just as effective.

Typically with large video wall like this you’d have a whole bunch of spare panels set up somewhere in the studio that are switched on whenever the video wall is in use so that the burn/wear rate matches when panels need to be swapped out (which inevitably they will over the life of the video wall).

I understand the panels are very quick/easy to swap out and swaps can be done by in-house crew rather than having to call somebody out.

Max Futcher presented the Afternoon News today in Queensland.

The curved screens on the Nine News curved sets are all little flexible square tiles about the size of your hand. When part of the wall dies you find the culprit, replace a few and bam all good.

Not sure if this is related to the new set in Brisbane (As the reporter is Sydney based)

Isn’t that the 7 News digital set? (If it was transferred to Everleigh)

Im pretty sure it was moved over because I saw it used in a report the other night

I’ll assume so, it was used during a live cross on Sydney’s 4pm news, with a wider angle and Chris Reason reporting.

Hope this thread’s OK, so the most amount of people can see it

As discussed last week, I am in Sydney at the moment, and went past the old Martin Place studio.
The Seven logo on the top of the building on both sides is still there. The ticker box is still there, but has been switched off.

Meanwhile, over where the Sunrise/News studio was, it has been completely pulled out, and has the original marble floors. I think those are lights which are lying on the floor.

Meanwhile the newsroom has also been completely emptied, with only the desk remaining.

There are still for lease signs there interestingly.
