Hugh Whitfeld broke into programming live at 1:57 edt just before the first cricket telecast, with the news out of Washington DC about the unfolding airport incident.
EPG was also updated live to “BREAKING NEWS” (1:57pm - 2pm). I like how reactive 24/7 NPC Media particularly Seven’s team are with this.
Will be interesting to see how and if Seven News continue to follow the story throughout the day, with network sport commitments underway. Potential for break-away rolling coverage if rain delays, also crawlers or quick news ‘flashes’ (be it just main channel or 7mate and 7Two as well). Then there is The Chase scheduled on main channel 5pm.
I wonder how Seven will handle this with Noon News in WA
Looking like Finder might be a sponsored segment or at least it is self serving - clearly recommending to viewers to use their services for the topic today.
PS: lots of ads for the service on Seven ATM as well - probably part of deal
Much prefer the guest seated where the sports presenter usually sits, seated next to Tarsh like that looks a little off IMO.
What’s with the lighting in that longshot? Set looks darker than usual.
‘Pick in Vic’ segment aired in Melbourne with Bethan Yeoman.
Every Friday, covering the best events, activities and entertainment across the state over the weekend.
I think that one has been airing on Friday nights for a few weeks.
Oops shows how much I watch Seven News first segment aired on 21 December.
So I think it’s official. The comedy segment on Fridays has been axed?
Seven QLD had Rosanna Kingsun from Townsville tonight. There was also a cross to 7News Mackay reporter (Mackay airport closed) Georgie-May Walker. There was a second cross later in the bulletin.
Half page ad again in News Corp papers this morning.
I find these so interesting as a broad marketing campaign, you’d have to look fairly close to reconginse local presenters, there’s no call to action either.
Sure it’s a bit different and I’m all for trying something new, just not sure they have quite the impact as probably intended.
Max isn’t even there?
Good spotting, I didn’t look too closely - seems like quite the oversight but then again the whole message is just wrong IMO.
Not only that, alot of the imagery is old. With all the recent major news events, you’d think you’d add some newer visuals to the mix. And failing to include your now main anchor (for the time being)…wtf?
I don’t know what is going on with 7’s marketing at the moment. It’s really lacklustre compared to past efforts, and the fact they’re barely promoting either: nightly at 6, watch on 7plus OR the 7news website is both baffling and telling of current management. You can’t even call it an ‘always on’ campaign because it’s so spotty.
Perhaps they are promoting the brand rather than the 6pm news?
The “Your News” bit looks targeted at Nine, who use the same tagline But not sure if “Our Mission” really hits it home though
But better than “Unstoppable”, that was a bit cringeworthy for mine.
Even brand campaigns usually include some sort of CTA, unless their part of a wider multi-platform campaign. But I don’t see that here … it’s a hodge-podge of spend with no clear target. The fact there’s no clear market visible in this ‘creative’ means there was also very little thought. They’re just throwing it out there and hoping for the best.
