DIANA, 7 DAYS

Monday at 8.45pm hours after its UK premiere

On August 31st, 1997, the sudden and tragic death of Diana, Princess of Wales, stunned her family and catapulted the British public into one of the most extraordinary weeks in modern history in which profound shock, grief and bewilderment led to an unprecedented reaction from the nation. Now we hear – for several for the first time – from those who were genuinely in the eye of this most unexpected storm.

Featuring interviews with Diana’s sons, Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry; her siblings, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer;
former members of the Royal Household, Lt Col Malcolm Ross, Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain’s Office, and Anne Beckwith-Smith, Diana’s lady-in-waiting;
and former Prime Minister Tony Blair and two government officials intimately involved that week, Alistair Campbell and Anji Hunter,
this film tells the story of the seven days that followed the Princess’ death and the remarkable life that preceded it.

What was it about Diana that explained such an outpouring of grief?
What did that week reveal about the British public’s relationship with the monarchy, then and now?
And how – if at all – has Britain changed in the aftermath?

Interesting schedule given Gordon Ramsay’s recent twitter comments mocking Marco’s lack of success with HK.

This is a 90-minute documentary produced for the BBC but will also air in the US on NBC. The director Henry Singer thinks this is the last time Princes William and Harry will talk about their mother’s death.

Jane Holmes mentioned on 3AW this morning there’s close to 10 different “Diana” programs over the next week :disappointed_relieved:

Talk about overexposure!

Have Seven struck a deal with Paramount?

Formerly Ten and the last couple of years Nine (who I thought picked up much of the library).

Noticed a few Paramount films have premiered on Seven in recent weeks.

(e.g.) tonight - “Shutter Island” (2010) on 7flix.

80 days? That’s longer than any of my relationships. I might watch it for advice.

Sorry, of course, I’m actually the one who posted it the other week :roll_eyes:

I deleted my post.

Whoops.

I’d be surprised if there weren’t any AFL finals matches featuring the Swans & Giants shown on Seven’s main channel here in Sydney, especially since a few finals matches featuring local teams got the main channel treatment during last year’s AFL finals series.
